It is a regular occurrence when I find myself clicking through text after text on Texts From Last Night, with my eyes glazed over and my homework untouched. But I will argue that I find the activity therapeutic and entertaining and I’m sure all of you will rightfully agree. The perfect procrastination tool and conversation starter, TFLN is not a shot less than brilliant. I like to think of it as the ‘American Pie’ of of websites – one of those gems that was created for our generation to bask in our outrageous glory.

Who knew stories created in T9 could ever be so priceless?
Or turned into a book?

Yes, this is great news for those of you unable to drag your computer everywhere to keep up with all the TFLN you can handle. Or for the rest of you who love quoting TFLN at parties, but can’t risk bringing your computer that close to the keg…again….

The geniuses behind everyone’s favorite website, Detroit natives Lauren Leto and Ben Bater, have turned this gem into a so-funny-you-actually-ROTFL book.

And more good news: College Candy is giving three of them away. FOR FREE. Could you imagine anything better? I mean, if the site makes you LOL on a daily (or, more realistically, hourly) basis, just imagine how fabulous the book will be (besides the fact that there is no discreet way to read it in class….)!

So how do you win it?

To enter just head over to TFLN and find your favorite text of all time. (And you can’t use “I used a bag of wine as a pillow last night.” That one is mine!) Copy that sucker and paste it into the comments section below with your full name.

On Monday, April 5th at 4pm ET, we’ll randomly choose three winners and announce them on Twitter and Facebook!

And that’s it. Easier than spotting a douche bag on the Jersey Shore.

So go! LOL! Enter! Win!

[It's pretty obvious that the average CollegeCandy reader has some very strong opinions. Opinions that she likes to share with everyone on the site. We love a strong woman (unless she happens to be charging at us with her fists raised), so we thought we'd give her a real forum to discuss her thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. Every Friday I'll be featuring a hot topic (like chivalry!) and leaving it up to you, the readers, to duke it out. So, read it and get your debate on in the comments section below!]

Sexting always seemed like a no brainer to me – don’t send naked pictures of yourself out into the world unless you want everybody to see them (see the smarts a college education buys!) – but it seems like the line has gotten blurrier and blurrier and now I’m not sure what to think.

Ok, let’s start with the obvious. We have all learned (from those drunken Facebook photos) that once something is out there, you can never really take it back, and sexting has the same issues. Even if it’s just words and not pics of your naughty bits, the last thing you want is for your BF’s pals to get hold of his phone and see (or god forbid, send) that stuff. Not to mention the whole, “what happens if you two break up and he’s still got all that stuff” issue.

There’s just so much that can go wrong with sending dirty stuff to each other’s phones or email (ever accidentally sent a text to the wrong person… yeah, that’s what I thought!). And since this stuff just ends up floating around in technology-land somewhere, there’s an actual legit chance that, say, your future boss/BF/skeezy-neighbor-down-the-hall could find these stupid little mistakes that you made and judge you for them. Is it really worth having that over your head?

But on the flip side, is sexting really that bad? It seems like every other month some women’s mag is telling me that I should keep my man revved up by sending him some dirty thoughts via text – and I have to admit that kinda makes sense. Texts are a lot less intimidating than actually having to say this stuff out loud, plus you can do it anywhere. Why not embrace the tech to make our sexy lives better, right?

Realistically, I’ve had some risqué text convos that I really wouldn’t want everyone on the planet seeing (sorry mom!) but should I let that idea keep me from having a little naughty fun when I want to? Should you really care what that theoretical future person might think of you – and more importantly, should you let that hold you back? After all, we live in an age where everyone’s personal flubs are public knowledge, so are we being too prudish about the whole idea of this?

Ok chickadees, what are your thoughts? Have you ever sent a dirty pic or text? Would you do it again? Are you doing it right now? (on second thought, don’t tell me!)

Is sexting a bad idea or just over-hyped? Duke it out!

It’s Thursday night, 8:00 PM. Most kids on my campus are pre-gaming in their rooms watching the new episode of The Office, but I am sitting half-comatose in a giant lecture hall, taking notes on Neo-freudians. It’s my own fault for picking such an unfortunately scheduled class, but I still silently curse my Ben Stein-clone of a professor as my phone vibrates for the tenth time since class started. Expecting another “where are u? we’re drinking at Kim’s apt, come!!” text, I glance down at my phone, instead seeing a blinking message: CANNOT RECEIVE MESSAGE. MEMORY FULL.

Frantically, I scroll through my texts, looking for one to delete. I keep scrolling… and scrolling… and then I’m at the end of the list, unable to delete even one. It’s weird, but there are just some texts I can’t bring myself to get rid of. And I know I’m not the only one.

1. The Sweet Text from your Ex: “hey babe. cant wait for tonite. love u and miss u.” It’s a reminder that the jerk we broke up with really was a nice guy, despite it all. He was capable of saying cute things every now and then, he was romantic when it counted, and those cute texts really had the power to make a sh*tty day wonderful…(and okay, maaaybe we also have a slight fear of never having a boyfriend again, so we keep this text as a constant reminder that, hey, at least somebody loved us once).

2. The Barely Comprehensible Drunk Text from your BFF: “omg so ducking drunk. Wher? are u. did I just make out with dave in front of everybodny?” It’s just too fun to whip this one out at brunch the next morning and read aloud to your best friend as she buries her face in shame. We look at these hilarious texts during our Wednesday four-hour bio labs to remind us that the weekend will make all the hard work we’re doing now totally worth it. But most of all, we keep these texts because it’s a reminder that no matter how wasted she was or who she was with when she typed it out, she still had you as a priority, and that’s what a best friend is all about.

3. The Cheesy Yet Cute Text from Your Rents: “Hi honey! Miss u! Hope u r having a good week! Talk 2 u soon! I luv u!” As much as we love school, let’s be honest— we can get a little homesick from time to time. You look at these texts on those days when you wake up with a stuffy nose, you’re late to class, you fail a quiz and you’re PMSing at the same time as your roommates. When everything is going wrong and it seems like the world hates you, at least you can always read that text and know that Mom or Dad love you, no matter what. And it’s always amusing to see that they typed ’2′ instead of to. They must think they are soooo hip.

4. The Hilarious Booty-Call Text from Some Dude: “hey let’s meet up. ur sex is on fire.” OMG this one is just.too.good. Especially if we have decided to stay in that night to work on a paper that’s due Monday so we are stone-cold sober, sitting on the couch in our sweats when we receive it. Out of context, we realize just how ridiculous this random dude is; he really expects us to go hook up with him just because he tapped out a lazy text and recited some song lyric??? If anything, we keep this one just to remind us on our “fat days” that, yeah, we’re hot, and yeah, some guy does want to make out with us, no matter how lame he is.

5. The Thank You Text from Someone Who Needed Us: “hey i just wanna say thanks for last night, i don’t know how i would have made it home without u.” We save this one because it reminds us how good it feels when we are that person to help someone in need. Whether we were holding someone’s hair back while they puked into the toilet, or holding someone upright as we walked them home from an epic party, we’ve all been there. It feels nice to look back on the gratitude every now and then, even if you didn’t know the person very well. And it’s also a reminder that one of these days we are going to be the ones waking up still drunk at 3PM and sending out the same text to someone who helped us the night before. Sometimes you’re the drunken mess and sometimes you’re the hero – and it’s nice to be the hero!

There’s a new report out there saying that when it comes to “flirty text messaging”, guys reply to a text from “their crush” usually within a hour, while girls wait an average of 1 hour, 19 minutes.

Even though this report comes to us from across the pond, I can totally see those numbers making sense in America as well. Why do women wait longer to reply to texts or missed calls from their crush?

Because we don’t want to …

There’s a new report out there saying that when it comes to “flirty text messaging”, guys reply to a text from “their crush” usually within a hour, while girls wait an average of 1 hour, 19 minutes.

Even though this report comes to us from across the pond, I can totally see those numbers making sense in America as well. Why do women wait longer to reply to texts or missed calls from their crush?

Because we don’t want to seem clingy and desperate.

Society has done a number on us when it comes to our supposed frantic need for a man in our lives. The worst kind of women, magazines and TV shows and movies explain, is the desperate woman.

The girl who’s too eager to fall in love. The chick who’s all too happy to adhere herself to her new man and never let go. The woman who cluthes her cell phone to her chest, checking it every couple of seconds to see if her guy has called, ready to fill his screen with smiley faces and exclamation points.

Therefore, we have this equation:

Replying too fast to a call or text = desperate, desperate = bad, so replying too quickly to even the friendliest of texts?

You got it. Bad.

I’m not sure if guys feel this kind of weird pressure, but for my entire dating life (when I wasn’t with someone long-term) I’ve always struggled with myself when it came to texting or calling someone back.

Part me of says waiting an extended amount of time to reply is artificial and lame, and if I really like someone, I should let them know by replying whenever I feel like it. Another part of me is still nervous about being perceived as desperate and weak, and can’t shake the feeling that a quick response will cause my crush to think I’m an idiot.

So what do I usually end up doing?

Waiting that extra 19 minutes. Just to be safe.

What about you? Are you a text-back-whenever-I-feel-like-it Girl? Are you a Waiter? Does the whole idea of turning communication into a game turn you off?

Let us know!

Do you wait to send a text to someone you’re interested in?
