I’m not afraid to admit I’ve always had a crush on Jennifer Aniston. I can remember back in the day when Friends still ruled TV, I watched an interview with Jen and gal pal Courteney Cox Arquette and immediately found myself crushing. Over the years, my crush has lasted, long after the show ended.

I’m still not over that.

Aniston’s a Style Icon and always look good (even practically naked!). And, hello, she’s freaking 40. Even though she may not be the most adventurous when it comes to fashion, she dresses well for her body, and always looks classy. Plus, this girl knows how to rock a suit!

As well as being super gorgeous, she’s also really down to earth, funny, and has a contagious laugh. If you’ve ever seen her interviewed, it’s hard not to love the girl.

We all know Jennifer for her role as Rachel on Friends, and for “The Rachel,” the popular hairstyle of the 90s, but that was only the start to her uber successful career. The woman is seriously versatile. She’s played a loveable wife and mom in Marley & Me, an angry woman in The Break-Up, and got pretty serious for her role in Derailed. (We’re back with another weekly installment of G.W.W.E [Guys We Want to Eff]. This week, we’re honing in on Frat Pack hottie, Vince Vaughn. Not only is he smokin’, but he knows how to party… and will still laugh at fart jokes. What more could a college gal ask for? )

Call me crazy, but I’m bored with college guys. It’s just that they’re…guys. I want to have fun, but is it so much to want to party with a real man? Is there anyone out there who can be mature when he needs to be, but still laugh at my potty humor? I used to think I’d never get my wish, but then Vince Vaughn came into my life.

Let’s think back for a moment to Wedding Crashers. I remember seeing that movie for the first time and thinking, “Where’d Vince Vaughn come from? Hellooooo hottie!” He dropped in on my fantasies as quickly and suavely as he did the Cleary wedding. He was sublimely clever in devising wedding crashing rules, and was equally as impressive with his devotion to the cause. Major bonus points (or shall I say, effability points?) for fidelity.

Vaughn emerged as a major comedic force among the likes of Will Ferrell, the Wilson brothers, and Steve Carell, particularly in the earlier release, Old School. Since then, he’s shown his multi-faceted (yet always effable) dating persona in The Break-Up with Jennifer Aniston, whom he subsequently dated. Their relationship was major tabloid fodder while it lasted, but now he’s been linked to Ugly Betty star, Vanessa Williams.

Never fear! Though he may appear to be off the market, Vince’s effable self will still be featured prominently in the new comedy Four Christmases with Reese Witherspoon. After watching that trailer, I know I’ll be asking Santa for a chance to eff Vince this holiday season!

I absolutely love chick flicks. There, I said it. Usually in other aspects of my life, I am not an extremely girly or emotional chick. But, when it comes to movies, there is nothing like a good sob story about star crossed lovers who somehow beat the system and ended up together to really get me going.

And yes, unlike Jess, I consider Dirty Dancing one of my all time favorite movies and am so excited to see it return to the big screen this week.

Needless to say, when I read an article in the NY Times about the possible downfall of chick flicks, I was devastated. Supposedly there is a disappearance of many of the movie world’s most visible female power brokers and because of this, more male-oriented movies such as 300 will appear and not be balanced out with another female-oriented option.

For someone that cannot stand watching movies full of guts, guns, or any type of violence, this is not okay.

“You don’t see companies saying, ‘More than half of this population is women, we should design a slate to come up with movies like ‘The Break-Up,’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ ” said an independent producer. No more chick flicks out in theaters will mean much less theater going for me. Read More »
