The Cure For Thursday Boredom: Suri Cruise

So it’s Thursday.

Thanks to those 5 glorious days off last week, this week feels like its been going on for an eternity. Friday seems so close yet so far away and right now we’re bored. And completely checked out from anything and everything academic.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday have given me my fill of shopping for awhile (aka until next week), and all this Tiger Woods bullsh*t is pissing me off. Who does he think he is dominating all the top stories of every one of my gossip websites? I avoid golf for a reason – it sucks. Enough already!

So what is a bored, Internet surfing college student to do?

Find someone entertaining to stalk, of course. And who is more entertaining than high-heel-sportin’ Suri Cruise?

I know what you’re thinking: what the hell does Suri cruise do besides wear a more expensive wardrobe than me? Well, I bet you didn’t know that she kept an online diary full of her deepest thoughts and feelings.

I agree; who knew she was so computer savvy? And witty? And eloquent?

Not that I’m surprised. She is Suri, after all.

If you’re looking for something to get you through this Thursday until Joel McHale shows up at 8pm, I highly recommend catching up with Lady Suri.

This is bound to keep you entertained for hours.

Fashionably Techie: Rain Rain Go Away

So winter is almost done and over with. Yay!

But we’ve still got a few more weeks of nasty weather ahead. Boo.

Even though we’ll start breaking out the pastels and cute shoes soon (soon being a relative term, as I personally refuse to wear pastels until it’s above 75 degrees), there will still be a host of rainy days and foul weather between now and “running through a field of flowers” weather. And, let’s be honest for a second; warm weather often means a boring desk job, during which time you will need plenty of things to do to pass the time.

So what does one do when they can‘t get out and play? Turn to the internet, of course! Here’s a quick list of ten sites to get you through the end of winter and beyond! Read More »

Judd Apatow Wants to Porn Things Up a Bit

The Announcement with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay & Judd Apatow on FunnyOrDie.com

I am always looking for new and different ways to waste time online. My recent favorite time-waster is Will Ferrell run comedy site, FunnyorDie.com. Ferrell along with Adam McKay started the site because “they had nothing better to do.” Videos posted are made by Ferrell and McKay along with user submitted clips. You may have seen the classic “The Landlord” which features McKay’s 2 year old daughter Pearl as a disgruntled landlord verbally abusing Will Ferrell.

The men behind FunnyorDie made my week today when they announced that Judd Apatow would be jumping on board to help create videos. Oh the sheer joy that ran through me when I heard this. I’m the girl who has seen”The 40 Year old virgin” more times than I can count, and I have enormous crush on Seth Rogan in all his hairy dorkdom. Word is Rogan will be making a few appearances in Apatow directed clips.

Weekly Obsessions: Grandma Chic

fur coatSometimes the week goes by really f*cking slow.

Work, classes, friends, family…sometimes it gets a little too routine for my liking. So, I decided to make a change and really spice things up.

This week? I’m channeling Grandma. After 92 years, my grandma knows what’s up…I mean she better after almost a century, right?

Right.

So if you’re feeling like you’re in a bit of a slump, try out some of these suggestions or come up with your own takes on ways to make the week fly by!

Perfect Time-Waster: Crossword Puzzles

The internet is great and all, but this week I’m on a low-tech kick.

And for someone who majored in Journalism and minored in English, it would only make sense that I have been completely enamored with crossword puzzles.

It started out as a time-waster on the subway (thanks AM New York!) but has evolved into a true pleasure that I’m willing to spend a whopping $2.99 on. You know those puzzle books you see old ladies on the bus with? Yes, I’m totally into them.

Still addicted to the net? Check out some amazing crosswords here.

P.S. Try making it a couples thing…it worked for them. Read More »

Back to School: Productive Time-Wasters

homeworkNot even a month into my senior year of college and I’ve already skipped two classes, started my homework for all of them the night before or the morning of class, and most impressively, have yet to even open the textbook for one class. It looks like this will be my finest year of procrastination yet.

My procrastination however, is actually quite productive in its own way.

I don’t simply lounge around on the couch and troll Facebook to see what my best friend from elementary school is up to these days. I mean of course I do that too, but you’d be surprised at how effective your time-wasting can actually be, aside from effectively lowering your GPA. Check out these sites next time you’re procrastinating, which will likely be within in the next 24 hours:

Watch TV on alluc.org

This site has years of procrastination in store for you, from anime cartoons to movies to guilty-pleasure TV shows from simpler days. “Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place,” anyone?

Get Life Advice at tomatonation.com

This gal Sara “Sars” Bunting is a humor writer and totally addictive. You’ll find all sorts of essays on her site, but it’s her advice column that has me refreshing her page an alarming number of times a day. Best of all? Her advice archives are separated into categories, so no matter what your current life drama, you’ll find some sound advice or at least some comfort in knowing that you’re not alone in your all-consuming hatred for your roommate’s cat and why won’t it stop peeing on the couch?!
