It’s time, ladies and gents.
We gave you a week to tell us what makes you the best roommate and, adorably enough, many of you submitted stories on what makes your roommate the best. Awwww.
Our hearts melted, we got a little jealous (our current roommate is on Ambien and eats our food in the middle of the night….) and now it’s time to exercise our rights and vote for the best roommate of all time. Below are the top 6 entries (as voted by us at CollegeCandy HQ). Read ‘em, then scroll down and vote for who YOU think is most deserving of the total room makeover from TJ Maxx and Marshalls.
Remember:
1. Voting ends at 5pm EDT on Wednesday, July 21st.
2. That means that you have until then to get your peeps to hop on over here and vote for you! (Click here to give your friends a little nudge….)
3. You can only vote once, so no cheating!
4. We’re awarding prizes to the top three vote-getters. The top dawg gets the big makeover, but 2nd and 3rd place each get a $50 gift card to TJ Maxx/Marshalls to help outfit their new rooms! Read More »

You know what’s cool? Pit stains. Or not. But thanks to the summer sun, I’ve got ‘em and I have a feeling they’ll be sticking around until September. That oughta be good for my social life.
What else is going on? You mean besides sweat-induced breakouts, funky tan burn lines, and 24/7 cravings for popsicles? Yeah, not much. Thank god all those ass-hats in Hollywood are keeping it real, otherwise I’d have nothing to do with myself while I spend my days huddled up on the air conditioning vent in my bedroom. Speaking of bedrooms, have you entered the CollegeCandy contest to win a total bedroom makeover?!
Perhaps reflecting on the week that was will cool things down a bit.
- Mel Gibson has officially gone off the deep end and taken on the title of Douchebag of the Century.
- Could you be one of these people? Here are six friends you’ll never see over summer break
- Kate and Jon didn’t work out, neither did Jake and Vienna. But what about Kate…and Jake? Maybe these new matchups will last in Hollywood.
- Wanna have sex? Forget about it. Let’s watch porn instead. Read about the new phenomenon about porn replacing sex.
- Short hair in, long hair out. Read about one CC writer’s obsession with short hair. (And rightfully so, look at Audrey Hepburn!)
- While you’re lounging poolside soaking up the sun, one post-grad is slaving away to prepare for the LSATs. Who do you think is having more fun? Hint: you.
- Emma Watson: smart, sucessful and the face of Burberry. Read why everyone here at CollegeCandy loves her style.
- Tired of working out every time you go out to eat? Eat these healthy foods and rock that hot summer bod.
- Guys are complicated. Wait, no they’re not.

Every week, CC and John bring you some of the weirdest, funniest, saddest things he hears on his college campus. Join the Overheard revolution!Leave your own overheard convos in the comments or send ‘em over!
(Girl, pointing at a grocery store bike rack.)
Girl: That bike doesn’t like me. I tried to get away, but it gave me a serious coochie bruise.
(Best Buy employees, talking to each other at the end of an aisle.)
Employee 1: So I got home, and I was hungry, so I ate some chicken and a pear. I was still hungry, so I ate a plum. And then I was still hungry after that, so I had another bowl of cereal and an apple! And a sandwich! I mean, what? What?
Employee 2: Life’s like that.
(Girl, talking to a crowd of friends.)
Girl: Does anyone else want to go see Harry Potter alone tonight? Read More »

Designer duds – for fashionistas around the world, they are a must-have. But with the economy in the crapper and most of us on a college student or recent graduate budget, finding the cash flow for those lovely labels is a lot harder than drooling over them. However, it is possible to find designer apparel and accessories at very discounted prices without having to elbow some other fashionista in the aisle at TJ Maxx, Loehmann’s or Filene’s Basement.
Just hit the internet.
While the prices are oftentimes still much higher than those pieces you love grabbing at Target, Old Navy, Forever 21 or H&M, many of these items are much higher in quality and can be wardrobe staples for many years to come.
I am personally obsessed with designer denim, shoes and handbags. I don’t have the salary to allow me to buy whatever I want at their normal price and I don’t own a credit card (for good reason – it would’ve been maxed out ages ago), so I have to look for deals. Enter my saviors for retail therapy on a budget:
Overstock.com: This site is a gem! You may not always find exactly what you want, but you can find some great stuff here at even better prices. I got my bf 2 sweaters and a button down shirt that were each originally $75/piece, for $15 each! You can also find great home goods here for awesomely affordable prices.
Bluefly: While things here are oftentimes still pretty pricey, they do give a good percentage off, and I check here often because when they have sales, you can find phenomenal deals. Read More »

A new school season is here, which means more than new books, new cute boys in class and new dorms. Back to school clothes are one of the most essential things on your list of “To-Do’s” before you pack off for another year of learning and debauchery.
So, where to look for the best finds, as well as the best prices? Check out these stores and, if they’re not near you, pop on their websites!
Target – This is the mini-mall of a college girl’s dream. Here you’ll not only find the best bedspreads and towels, snacks and sodas, but you can now also peruse the clothing section, which seems to be coming out with new high-end-like lines every other day. With prices ranging from $9.99 and up, you’re sure to find some cute basics and exotic prints at this fine, serious leap from Wal-Mart.
Marshalls/TJ Maxx - Get ready to dig, dig, dig, but dig with the best of them because if you do, ladies, you can find the best Seven Jeans, Joe’s Jeans and Theory shirts all for a quarter of the price than on the racks at Nordstroms and Bloomies. Who said we can’t have designer trends in college, despite our almost empty pockets? (Why, I was just in Marshalls today on my lunch break – productive, I know – and I snagged a pair of Joe’s Jeans for just $69.99, a quarter the price than the $200 plus pairs at Bloomies!)
