Happy late Earth Day! You probably don’t think of tech gadgets when you think of saving the planet but you should. I mean think about how many new cell phones you’ve gotten in the past two years. For most people it’s at least two (or more if you’re accident/drop-in-the-toilet prone).
Where do you think your old phones go? There’s no magical cell phone farm where they go to live out their last days in a texting spree. It’s more like a industrial landfill where they sit until the end of time.
And well that’s just not great for the Earth. The amount of tech junk that’s hanging out would make Captain Planet cry.
So what can you do to help with that? Well, you could buy less stuff, but that’s not too realistic. Especially with all the cool shiz that comes out monthly (thank you, Apple!) and the short life many of our gadgets have.
So what can you do? Why recycle, of course! Read More »

At least the products are, according to former Ms. America, Susan Jeske. After having some serious skin and medical issues she sought the help of a holistic healer who attributed her problems to the beauty products she used every day. Jeske stopped using everything and within 2 weeks all of her skin problems were gone.
Shocked and angry, Susan Jeske gave up her job promoting beauty products to find out just what was going into the products men and women use every single day.
What she found was not pretty.
It turns out that there are 12 chemicals in makeup, shampoo and even toothpaste that could be toxic to our health! Yes, the products we turn to to keep us fresh, clean and looking beautiful could be the very things causing all of our problems.
And the government and beauty industry know about the negative effects of these chemicals. According to Jeske, “More than 1,100 harmful chemicals used in personal care items have been banned in most European countries. In the U.S. only 10 have been banned.”
Scary, right? It looks like the people behind all of our go-to products are working hard to keep the truth under wraps. So, what products should we be looking out for? Jeske’s Toxic 12 are: Read More »

…And now researchers have found that there is a new worry for non-smokers out there: “Third-hand smoke.”
According to an article in the New York Times, scientists have discovered a toxic yet invisible residue left behind after someone smokes. Unlike the second-hand smoke that someone can blow out a window or fan out of a room, these dangerous particles get stuck to surfaces like rugs, clothing and the fabric on a couch.
Also unlike second-hand smoke, which people can obviously see, people do not realize that these particles exist, which makes them even more dangerous. The article explains that the smell on someone’s clothes or in a room after someone smokes is a sign that the toxic chemicals are still present. So, just because the smoke has cleared from a room or car doesn’t mean that the air is clean and safe.
“There are carcinogens in this third-hand smoke, and they are a cancer risk for anybody of any age who comes into contact with them.”
This is something to think about if you are a smoker or know someone who is. This may also be a sign that banning smoking in restaurants and bars isn’t enough; soon they may make you change your clothes when you get back from having that much needed cigarette.

Either TMZ is telling a boldface lie, or Britney Spears has finally become 100% certifiably crazy.
The tacky tabloid is reporting that Ms. Insane’s photo shoot and interview with OK! Magazine went so badly that the publishers are deciding whether “to report what actually happened—or sanitize the truth to protect the pop train wreck.”
Apparently, the mother of two was acting strange throughout the entire interview, and escaped “to the bathroom” a number of times, coming back from each trip a little more whacked out than before. Read More »

Okay, so clearly I don’t dance like Britney Spears (although I guess she doesn’t really dance anymore either), and I know I don’t look like Aubrey from Diddy’s Danity Kane, but hey, when no one is looking, I can shake my ba-dunk-a-dunk, pop and lock and even do a spin or two. And I swear if I take a quick (like speed of light quick) glimpse in the mirror I can see a six-pack of my very own. Hey a girl can dream right?!
Well now, we can do more than just dream. Thanks to my favorite dance studio on earth, NYC’s notorious Broadway Dance Center, you can take dance lessons from the best of them. Famous for choreographing moves for the rich and famous, today’s hottest choreographers are heading out on the Pulse Tour 2007-2008. Read More »
