Comedian Bernie Mac died early this morning (Saturday) at a Chicago hospital from complications from pneumonia.
Mac had been in the hospital for about a week prior, dealing with complications from sarcoidosis, “a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs”.
In addition to starring in “Bernie Mac Show” on Fox, Mac had spots in the cult classic “Friday”, the “Oceans” franchise, and most recently, “Transformers”. He also had a long stand-up career, highlighed in “The Original Kings of Comedy.”

Transformers. Yeah, I watched the cartoon. I was a child of the 80’s and I had a younger brother! We watched it all: Transformers, Thunder Cats (someday I’ll have to talk about how odd this show seems now…I mean, cat people? In spandex?), GI Joe. When I wasn’t playing with My Little Ponies, I was watching boy cartoons.
Which is why I’m slightly excited about Michael Bay’s giant Transformers movie. I can’t tell you if I’ll actually see it in the theaters, but its nostalgia. Nostalgia of the 80’s. Everyone loves them some good nostalgia.
Of course, being 24, there might be one more reason I’m interested in a movie about robots that turn into cars. And that reason might be Hollywood’s new It Kid, Shia LaBeouf.
The strangely adorable LaBeouf began his acting career on Even Stevens, a Disney show that was actually pretty funny, and soon graduated to bigger movies like Holes and this spring’s Disturbia (some of you indie flick lovers may also have seen him in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, a film that made me cry relentlessly for twenty minutes).
These days, Shia is making huge movies like Transformers and the newest installment of Indiana Jones, but no matter the film’s budget, always seems to carry with him a mature sense of character. He’s a great actor, and everyone seems to be noticing.
What about you, lovelies? Is Shia your new It Guy…or just some guy?

Let me preface this by saying I am 100% not a lesbian. Not that there’s anything wrong with that….
But Megan Fox, who is the female lead in the upcoming summer movie, Transformers, is HOT. So hot, in fact, that she blows any Jessica – be it Alba, Biel AND Simpson – out of the water completely.
Thanks to IMDB.com, I’ve learned that this girl basically popped up out of nowhere. She was, of course, an aspiring model/actress, then appeared in a few random sitcoms, had a part in some crappy Lindsay Lohan movie, a part in some horrible Olsen Twins movie, and then boom: she landed a role in the biggest blockbuster of the year.
Transformers isn’t even hitting the big screen until July 4th, and this girl is already being talked about.
HollywoodTuna features Megan’s new spread in GQ. Damn! I love her hair, her tats, her eyes, and the fact she’s a new face with no baggage, like rehab or girly drama or a penchant for shaving one’s head. She’s just what we need in a new It Girl, and I welcome her to the bunch of It Girls, before her own set of scandals begin, of course.
But, sorry boys (and same-sex-oriented girls) – she’s engaged to Brian Austin Green, a.k.a David from the gang at 90210. This guy.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that….
