Lindsay Lohan:
Publicists exist for a reason and that reason is Lindsay Lohan and her drunken ramblings. If this girl ever wants a chance at a solid career again, it’s time to stop drunk Tweeting/battling with her ex GF via the very public Interwebs and start letting the professionals handle her bizness.

Michael Lohan:
Is over-Tweeting a genetic condition? Clearly it runs in this family. Come on, Mikey, stop riding your daughter’s has-been coattails and airing her dirty laundry to the world in 140 characters. (Actually, maybe you should understand how Twitter works and stop writing novels that overwhelm my Twitter feed.) It’s enough we have to see you in this; must we have to listen to you, too?

Coco:
Let’s be real here. This woman is “famous” for two things: her giant booty and being married to everyone’s favorite SVU detective. And even if she had the voice of Susan Boyle and the brains of Steve Jobs, I wouldn’t want to see a picture of her getting a bikini wax. Seriously, girl.

Spencer Pratt:
To be fair, we think Spencer Pratt should remove himself from the planet altogether, but since that’s not happening any time soon (unfortch), we can start smaller. I mean, the guy is now apparently working for the government or something but spends his time on Twitter talking sh*t about people with actual talent? I swear, Spencer Pratt is the reason so much of the world hates this country. Shut him up and world peace will ensue, I guarantee it.

PDiddy:
P Diddy spent the past 15 years building up his reputation as the coolest, dopest, baller-ist guy on the planet. And then he started compulsively Tweeting with more exclamation points and ALL CAPS than a 13-year-old-girl in a Justin Bieber chat room. Following Diddy’s Tweets is like following Richard Simmons. It. must. stop.

I love visiting home during the holidays. I get to have my own roommate-free space for a few weeks, eat my mom’s delicious cooking instead of what they try to pass off as food in the dining halls, and spend time with my family and old friends.  But after I’ve been home for a week or so, I start to remember why I like being away from: because my parents aren’t there.

I don’t know about you, but it seems my parents like to comment on everything I do (or don’t do). I love them, I really do, but I often wonder if they’re the most grating parental units on the planet.

Turns out, they’re not. There’s someone out there far worse, and his son’s got a (wildly successful) Twitter account. Allow me to introduce you to S**t My Dad Says.

The premise is simple: every few days the account’s creator, Justin, posts a quote his 73-year-old father said the day before.  The (often profane) Tweets range from (sort-of) advice: “You worry too much. Eat some bacon… What? No, I got no idea if it’ll make you feel better, I just made too much bacon,” to rantings: “Do these announcers ever shut the f**k up? Don’t ever say stuff just because you think you should. That’s the definition of an a**hole.“

There’s not to it, but what is there is brilliant.

And there’s more “S**t  My Dad Says” coming our way soon.  The site is growing quickly in popularity; since launching last August, it’s gained more than 1 million followers (that makes it more famous than you, @spencerpratt and @heidimontag) and now there’s a book deal and T.V. show in the works.

I literally LOL (and sometimes even ROTFL) every time there’s a new Tweet. It’s all at once therapeutic (thank god my parents aren’t this bad!) and a humorous way to break up the annoying “this is what I’m doing right now” Tweets that dominate the rest of my Twitter life. If you don’t have a Twitter account, S**t My Dad Says (and CollegeCandy’s Tweets!) is reason enough to sign up.

Just remember: “The universe does not give a f**k about you. You are a speck in its s**t.”

2009 was a great year for awesome products; God knows everyone had to be creative this year and recession-proof any product launch. But which products were best?

Here’s a rundown of the best stuff we got to call our own in 2009. If we were lucky. And if not, fingers crossed the prices will drop on this ish in 2010!

Snuggie
Now available in leopard! If there was any kind of product phenomenon last year it was definitely the Snuggie. I sadly did not get one and I immediately turned Christmas-tree green with envy when I saw anyone’s status onFacebook reading “Just got a zebra print Snuggie from Grandma!” A blanket, with sleeves? If that’s not bringing brilliance, laziness and amazingness to a whole new level, well, I’m just not sure how it could be anymore American. Oh yes it can. Because now? You can get a Snuggie for your pooch! My Yorkie is totally getting hooked up for her birthday.

The iPhone 3GS
iPhone upgraded, and it was good. Video functions, voice recognition and a whole slew of apps that could pair with your trendy phone made 2009 the year of the smart phone. If you aren’t into it (or actually have decent phone service and use Verizon), you’ve got the new Blackberry or the Droid to keep you constantly updated.

Twitter
Okay, is Twitter a product? Debatable, I suppose. 2009 was truly the year of the tweet. It brought celebrities, companies and information in the form of 140 characters to our fingertips. I mean, seriously, I can’t even imagine my life without knowing how Rachel Zoe is spending her vacation at all times.

The Flip
A teeny little camcorder, smaller than your cell, that records over 60 minutes of footage? Perfect for those mornings when you just can’t exactly remember what you did (or where you left your heels) last night.

Marc Jacobs Bruna Bag
In PURPLE? If heaven was a handbag, this would be it. If you can’t afford the splurge (I know I can’t), Marc by Marc Jacobs also released some of the hottest bags of the year.

Barbie Escalade
If only I was 5 again. Power Wheels with serious attitude.

Hulu
Who do you turn to when you’re alone, lost and scared on a weeknight? Everything on TV is terrible, Jersey Shore is a repeat or Snooki just isn’t delivering that night. Your DVD collection has lost it’s luster, including every episode of Arrested Development that you’ve watched at least 19 times. Well, there’s something that can help. Hulu! Where else can you catch up on SNL clips (because, really, why bother watching the entire show anymore), particularly “What Up With That” featuring Kenan, or entire episodes of “Always Sunny” that your DVR managed to accidentally eat? And did I mention the mminimal commercial interruptions and the luxury of watching it wherever your laptop goes and WiFi exists (like in your lecture hall)? I heart you Hulu, don’t ever change. Or charge.

Whether they’re crazy in the “what the f&!# way” or crazy in the “I need that NOW” way, I’m listing them all, from social media to iPhone apps. Gen-Y has access to the wackiest and most innovative technology right now and here’s my “Weekly Ten” take on all of it:

9. Last.Fm
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you’re a music junkie like me you MUST get last.fm. You can download an app for your computer that scrobbles (crazy jargon!) whatever you’re playing and can show the world what you’re listening to. I love seeing what my friends are jamming out to. Last.Fm also creates a personal radio station for you that kicks Pandora’s butt by a mile. Love it.

8. Skype
Phone calls, video chat and texting. All in one and it’s international. You can even place calls thru Skype via the wifi on your iPhone. It’s a little buggy, but still pretty cool to call your friends abroad. FOR FREE.

7. DJ Hero
Okay, maybe it’s not revolutionary, but I’m so beyond excited for this it’s not even funny. Finally, I can create mashups of my very own! Hopefully I’ll be better at this than the drums on Rock Band. And hopefully this won’t give me those awful foot cramps like the drums on Rock Band.

6. Texts From Last Night
Yes, you can share every drunk text. In the world. And read everyone else’s. And read the ones that apply to your lives. Get them on your iPhone and even on your Twitter. TFLN is EVERYWHEREEE!

5. Farmville
I don’t know what it is but I don’t like it. However, Newsfeed lets me know that a huge amount of my Facebook friends are happily plowing away on their internet farms. Cool?

4. Google Wave
Kinda awesome concept, impossible to understand at this point. Get it together, Google!

3. BBM or Ping! app
If you have a Blackberry, you have a special messaging system for you and all your Blackberry friends. iPhone rebuttal? Ping! iPhone users exclusively chatting with other iPhone users. What is it about smartphone people that makes them so damn entitled to their very own messaging system? I don’t care – I love ‘em both.

2. Twitter
Okay, so maybe not brand new, but definitely newer than Facebook. Twitter rules. I’m not ashamed to admit it. I love following the constant updates from Perez Hilton to my fave haircare brand to my best friend. All in one. And the microblogging gives me the nitty gritty as opposed to all the the overshare of Facebook.

1. Knocking Pic
This insanely tech-forward iPhone app just broke today. First ever LIVE picture sharing. I’ve been beta testing this for a while and it lives up to the hype. Yes, INSTANTANEOUS sharing of pictures. No more MMS, no more uploading, live sharing of images. So if you catch your bff’s boyfriend cheating on her, you can instantly let her know; or if there’s a hot sale at Bloomingdales, your friend can instantly show you the dresses on the racks. I love the idea of this, but it’s crazy how far we’ve come with tech. Not to mention, the first 50,000 downloads are free.

Scary thought… live video sharing? We’ll see.

It’s been a long week of Tweeting, Twittering, and whatever else we can do on Twitter (do you follow us? You should!), but decision day is here and it’s time to pick the “Rock Out With Your Guitar Out” winner. We’ve written down everyone’s names (and written you down again if you had your friends hook you up) and tossed them in an empty Pirate’s Booty bag.

Yeah, we know we said we were gonna pull it out of a hat, but then we realized that hats don’t look good on us so we don’t have any lying around. But empty bags of chips? Yeah, we’ve got plenty.

Oh. Em. Gee. Twitter is down today.

I click on that cute little blue “t” in my favorites and nothing happens.  Nothing!  That means no one will know what I’m eating for lunch.  It’s a pbj, people!  It’s delicious and now my recessionista awesomeness will go completely unnoticed by my friends.  I could always IM them and let them know of my awesome sandwich making skills, but that’s just creepy.

I seriously don’t know how to function.  Although I’m a relatively new recruit, Twitter has become a part of my daily online ritual: update Facebook, check e-mail, and tweet. Repeat. Today this routine was destroyed.  I thought I’d be OK with just using Facebook for my hourly updates, but even that isn’t working!  I’m melting down. Shaking. I don’t know what to do.  I have no idea whether my friends have changed their relationships or which 1950′s movie star they are…I’m so disconnected!

In all seriousness, I’m surprised at how much this affects my life.  I’m anxious, checking back with Twitter and Facebook every few minutes.  I feel like I’m almost missing a limb (and not a pinkie toe, I’m talking about a really serious limb…like my head).  I’m hoping that both these sites are back up by the end of today, otherwise who knows what chaos will ensue?

Not that anyone will know, because Twitter is down and we can’t read news tweets.  Woe is a world without social networking websites!

After reading the news of Will.I.Am’s alleged assault on Perez Hilton (the thought of which just makes me giddy), I feel like I need Seth Meyers to do one of his “Really?” news bits from Saturday Night Live.  Literally, aside from giggling and imagining the hurt that could rain down on Perez from a Black Eyed Peas beat down, all I could do while reading about this was say repeatedly, “…really?”

First of all, when I get smacked up (which is, like, all the time), I don’t think about ways of fitting my injury into a Tweet.  I do, however, think about calling the police.  And getting a hug from my mom.  Police first, though.  Unlike everyone’s favorite Gossip Queen, I wouldn’t think of calling the police via Twitter (or assume that the PoPo are following me/checking their Twitterfeed every 4 seconds).  I’m pretty sure the seven people following me on Twitter don’t care if I’m bleeding and Tweeting at the same time (although…what an accomplishment, no?).

I hope that Perez’s gut reaction to an (alleged) emergency doesn’t represent a trend toward alternative communication methods for emergency services.  I can just see it now: 15 years in the future, my child (haha yeah, sure) will be in elementary school and the teacher will be explaining what to do in an emergency.

“Now children, take out your Blackberries and access your Twitter accounts.  Make sure to describe your injury and ask several times for the police to come.  They are totes following your feed.  Also, it’s important to type ‘No joke’ at the end of your Tweet, because they will come faster and people will actually believe you.”

At least we all got some very enjoyable imagery from this…although I’m sure no one enjoyed it more than Will.I.Am.  Next time I see him around (which, unfortch, isn’t nearly as often as I hear Boom Boom Pow), I’m gonna buy him a round and give him a high five.  He deserves it!

Are you Tweeting too hard?

You know something’s a hit when verbs are being made out of it. Or when Oprah is doing it on live TV. Or when Anderson Cooper is begging people to follow CNN in order to beat Ashton Kutcher in the race to 1 MILLION followers (typed in Dr. Evil speak, obvi).

Much like Facebook took on its own verbiage (“I Facebooked him,” or, after every drunken photo op at the bar, you yell “tag it!”), Twitter is the newest pop culture obsession amongst celebs and mere mortals alike. With it came not only a new set of Internet jargon (“He Tweeted you WHAT?”), but yet another networking site for you to update and check incessantly in class…

Frankly, it all seems exhausting, but never one to be left out I joined the bandwagon and I’m Twittering away! (Follow me @mysocalled20s and our CollegeCandy page @collegecandy!)

It’s addicting. It’s entertaining. It’s even more proof – not like we really need it – that our generation is is all about narcissism and shameless self promotion.

And I love every second of it. (Almost as much as I love myself/looking at myself in the mirror.)

Apparently so do our favorite celebs. Maybe it’s because it’s a way to connect with fans without being shrieked at on the street. Maybe it’s because they can set the record straight without going through their b*itchy publicist who always responds with a “no comment.” But whatever the case, there is a plethora of celebs out there tweeting.

Some are hysterical, some are sharing what they eat, and some are just as pathetic on their Twitters as they seem to be in real life.

And all of them provide us with yet another reason to procrastinate that paper that’s due in – uh- 2 hours. So, here is a list of my favorite celebrities who Tweet. P.S. Can someone please remind me to thank @tinafey for reminding me about the existence of Carmello bars? Thanks.

1) Ryan Seacrest (@ryanseacrest)- Fact is, Ryan Seacrest is a Man 10 ways. He is always All. Over. The. Place. I mean, seriously, when does the guy sleep? But even with all that, he still manages to find time – like, um, I don’t know, during commercial breaks on the Idol set – to give us the behind the scenes scoop and respond back to fans and celebs alike. And we love having another way to have a little Ryan in our life.

2) Tina Fey (@tinafey) – While she doesn’t update often, when she does I swear a little pee comes out. That woman is fun-ny.

3) Oprah (@oprah) She is the newest to join the celebrity Twitterverse and it’s totes the real woman. We follow in hopes that one day she’ll give all her followers a free car. Enough said.

4) Ashton Kutchter (@aplusk) – Not only did he get 1 million followers before CNN, but he uses Twitter to do more than just talk about what color shirt he decided to wear at today’s photo shoot. He is getting the word out there for good causes and uses his voice to spread positivity, which is what the world really needs right now. Plus he’s funny. And I’d follow a funny man anywhere.

5) Heidi Montag (@heidimontag) – Just as annoying on Twitter, but something about using half of her 140 characters in exclamation points becomes slightly addicting: “life is so short and we get another day of life!!! celebrate!!!!! enjoy every moment of your day, have fun its your life u only get one!” Exclamation point count: 9.

6) Giuliana Rancic (@giulinanarancic) – I won’t lie, there have been times I’ve screamed at my TV: “Giuliana. Cookie. NOW.” (When I saw she wasn’t taking my advice I decided to eat it for her…) But take one look at her Twitter page and you can feel her down-to-earthness. She @replies to her fans who ask her questions about her clothes/job/workout regime etc- and she is honest. None of that “I eat like a pig- I eat whatever I want” This E! News chic Tweets at 4:30 am on her way to the gym. Talk about motivation.

7) Ellen Degeneres – She Tweets as funny as she speaks.

8) P.Diddy aka Ptwitty (@iamdiddy) – Twitter shows us a whole other side of the Did-ster that we never knew existed. And while he may be on Twitter overload at times (taking some exclamation point lessons from @heidimontag), he is spreading the positivity, and this chick right here is all about that.

9) Hugh Jackman (@RealHughJackman). I can’t even read his Tweets (and apparently he is trying to do good for charity!) because every time I try, I get distracted by his photo at the top…

10) Backstreet Boys (@backstreetboys) – We all know CollegeCandy’s love for the BSB and now their Twitter page brings us all even closer to them. If only they responded to our 245 @ messages a day. BSB, I LOVE YOU.

Now if only we could get Jason Segel to join this bad boy (oh and um, date me? I can crack a mean joke, Jason Segel!). Then I’d be set…
