Ok, so it hasn’t been that rough of a winter in NYC. In fact, there’s not even any snow on the ground currently. But don’t let any of the aforementioned fool you. That hasn’t stopped me from dreaming of a tropical vacation.Warm sun, sandy beach, comfy lounge chair and a cold drink? Um…yes, please, sign me up!
Check out some of the warmer places I’d love to jet away to right now. Read More »

It’s strange, but for some reason spending 45 minutes on the elliptical feels unnatural when the weather starts warming up. It’s like lying in a tanning bed when it’s 80 degrees and sunny outside.
Clearly, I’ve already grown tired of my normal workout routine for the year.
The solution? Exploring outdoor activities that will provide me with a sense of adventure as I tone up. Now you may be wondering, “Hmm, is there really anything fun out there that will burn lots of calories?” I felt the same. But the reality is, YES, YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN! Check out these options below. It’s been so long since I’ve slipped on a pair of sandals I’m not even sure I remember how to walk in them. My little piggies haven’t seen the light of day in months and now that it’s finally getting warm out there, I’m itching for some new sandals to show off these freshly pedicured toesies. It’s a good thing everyone and their mother is designing adorable sandals these days. Seriously, every pair I see is cuter than the one before.
And they are flats! And they are comfortable! And they are cheap! It’s like all of my fashion prayers have been answered. Here are just a few of my favorite summer sandals, all under $20 and all making me want to move somewhere warm where I can wear these year-round. Read More »

If Punxsutawney Phil was correct this year, we now only have 3 more weeks of winter, which means we can soon wash away those winter blues and bust out those spring styles. This year, Pantone’s top color will be turquoise, which is not only a fun, bright color that can be mixed with everything from neutrals to browns to other brights, but it looks great on nearly everyone.
And with Spring Break comin’ quick, now is the perfect time to nab some turquoise!
Here are some great choices under 20 buckaroos that’ll perfectly highlight spring’s most popular hue. Read More »

Clearly I’ve slightly, OK totally, abandoned my usual workout routine.

The weather is getting warmer, and I don’t know about you, but my feet are itching to get into some flip flops. Is it summer yet?
Personally, I just survived one of the harshest winters in years (if you live in a warm climate, I hate you), combined with a crapload of work and stress. Once summer hits, I’m going to call Benjamin Linus and ask him to freeze time so I can stay in July forever (pardon the Lost reference- I’m kind of obsessed). I am currently making a To-Do list to make sure I enjoy every possible moment during the upcoming summer months. Read More »

Today is the first official day of Spring, ladies! Sure, you might not feel it yet (I know I wore a winter coat to the bar last night), but that is what the calendar says, so bust out the Havianas and madras and embrace the new season!
It’s amazing what the weather can do for your mood. Just the thought of rocking my new Ray Ban’s with a pair of flip flops has me jumping for joy. Seriously, the guy who lives below me just jabbed his broom at the ceiling. Maybe once he sees the sun shining he’ll stop being so grumpy.
Anyways, I. LOVE. Spring. It’s my favorite season of the year by far. Jean jackets, spring dresses, sangria on the porch – there is nothing better. And the rest of the CollegeCandy writers agree. See what they love most about spring. Read More »

Even though these last couple of days were actually cold (what the hell, nature? Get your sh*t together!), the warm weather is indeed here. And whenever warm weather descends upon my pale, winter-stricken body, I immediately feel like making lemonade.
Why? I’m not sure. Could be because lemonade is synonomous with skipping around barefoot and not caring about anything except avoiding dog poop on the lawn. Could be because I’m obsessed with sweet and sour things. Could be because running a lemonade stand as a kid was the first time I realized the sweet, green beauty of money. Whatever the case, lemonade rocks my world.
Here’s how to make your own version of this fresh, delicious summer drink!
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
5 cups cold water
Garnish: lemon slices, maraschino cherries

It’s Thursday again and that means it’s time for another round of Weekly Obsessions!
This week has been a mix of the last days of warm weather and the gray dreary days of Fall, so I’ve been trying my best to counteract any kind of gloominess with tons of color and fun!
First things first:
Fashion Obsession: Colorful Hair!
On Monday, I woke up feeling like I needed a change–any change. Simply, I was bored. And what do I do when I’m bored? I change my hair color! I’ve had all sorts of wacky colors and cuts through the years but I wanted something drastic.
I made my way down to SoHo to the Arrojo Studios where I asked my awesome colorist to make me as blonde as possible. She took one look at my dark brown hair and I could already tell it would be impossible. Going from dark brown to platinum would be a painful, all-day process.
Such a bummer. (Sidenote: If Japanese girls can go blonde, why can’t I?)
She salvaged the situation by putting some (subtle) blue and pink bits all throughout the front of my hair which I completely love. Maybe after a little more planning I’ll be able to go lighter, but for now, I’m loving the new streaks. Read More »
