Weekly Wrap Up: Best Week Ever!

tired_baby-whew.jpgThis week may have been the best week ever.  For starters, people celebrated 4/20 on Monday.  Tuesday (probably the best day ever) was both Iced Coffee Day at Dunkin Donuts® AND Free Scoop Day at Ben and Jerry’s®.  Plus, on Wednesday, we celebrated Earth Day!  We learned why college students should go green, which is easier than you’d think.  And now we can keep the celebration going this weekend with an eco-friendly gathering, where we will have to lay off the booze so as not to become the drunk girl.

Also, this week was the first week that, at least for a lot of the country, it actually felt like spring—which makes us (and squirrels) want to party!  So throw on that new organic cotton sundress, paint your nails hot pink, and have fun!  Plus, we all know that spring puts us in a sexy mood (you’re probably stalking your crush’s Facebook page while you read this, right?), and now we know exactly how to find that new guy.

With all the fun we’ve been having this week, it’s going to be hard to get back to writing that paper we’ve been putting off. But we must, or we may regret it later.

Weekly Wrap Up: Thank God It’s (Good) Friday

tired_baby-whew.jpgHappy almost-Easter! Have you stocked up on your Peeps and Cadbury Eggs? Not you, Passover people – unfortunately you don’t get to partake in the tasty treats. You also don’t have to deal with the Easter Creep-sters, though, so that’s a plus.

Anyways, it’s Friday and we’re ready for a night in with some hot chocolate and a good (self-help) book. We would go out and par-tay, but we had a long week (as usual), full of life lessons:

College on crutches? It sucks.
Sex is good, but being wanted is better.
Gavin DeGraw is as funny as he is talented.
All those bad habits are just not worth it.
Vitamin Water is now almost calorie-free!
There are a lot of things guys just don’t know about us.
Pretty people have it really easy.
Lindsay Lohan deserves a break from the paps.
There are a lot of things we won’t miss when we graduate.
There are lots of pros to having a boyfriend
And lots of pros to not having one

Whew. We’re pooped. Nothing a big bowl of (free!) granola can’t fix!

Let it Rock: U2 is Back! But Wait, There’s More!

listen.jpg

If you pay attention to music news at all, then I’m pretty sure you’ve got one thing on your mind: U2. Of course, U2’s new album is what everyone and their brother is talking about this week and for good reason.

But don’t let the boys from back in the day completely overshadow the rest of the fabulous music being released this week. If you miss out on Neko Case’s new album, you’re likely going to regret it. And give newcomer Molly Jenson a listen to as well. While new releases from the classic groups are always super exciting, there’s a lot of fabulous new music out there. Read More »

Let it Rock: Music to Get You Through Valentine’s Day. Laughing All the Way.

dickinabox.jpg

One thing this week’s new music releases have in common is that they’re engaging. Seriously engaging. I laughed. I cried. I nodded my head in agreement. OK, so maybe I didn’t cry – except when I heard the cheesiest song ever – but I laughed a lot.

And considering this week is Valentine’s week, The Lonely Island’s Incredibad may be just the music you need to get you out of your gloom and get ROFLing. Lily Allen’s new album will help you realize you aren’t alone in that crazy dating world. And Ryan Leslie will make you want to groove with your honey, if you do in fact have one. Just, whatever you do, don’t listen to his “Valentine.” Trust me. Read More »

Let it Rock: The Bird, the Bee, and the Boss

warm-up-music.jpg

Another week, another new pile of CDs to sift through. I don’t know what it is about 2009, but this week’s new releases were great. Again. It didn’t matter if the artist was new, old, or really old (sorry, Billy!), they all put together some great sound that everyone should pick up and take home. Read More »

Let it Rock: The Year For New Music Discoveries

warm-up-music.jpg

The year is getting off to a slow start music-wise, that doesn’t mean there’s not tons and tons to look forward to in 2009 (trust me, there is). After all, it’s only been 2 weeks. But slow does not mean great music isn’t being released.

This week’s new releases were mostly unfamiliar to me – and totally memorable – and I’m super excited that I got to discover some new music. Here’s to hoping 2009 is filled with lots more new bands and jams, in addition to new releases from old favorites. Read More »
