Fourth of July has come and gone (and, thankfully, so has my sunburn). Summer is half way over! Before you know it, you’ll be back at school walking to class hungover way too early because in your summer stupor you seemed to forget that 11am is really still too early to have a class. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

It’s still summer and for the past 6 weeks you’ve been working on that tan of yours. And, glass half full, you’ve still got a good 6 or 7 weeks left to bronze yourself. You know what is best paired with a tan? White, coral, turquoise and brown – only the best summer pairings since you put jicama and guacamole together. But to all you Snow White ladies of the universe (I SO feel you, my fair ladied sisters) these colors are universally flattering on every skin tone and every hair color. I have yet to see someone who does NOT look good in turquoise. (Seriously, find me said person and I will buy you a drink.)

Anyway, here are some of my favorite ways to rock this killer summer combo, day or night.

Dress:
I love the eyelet detailing on the dress, as well as the almost-sweetheart neckline. It’s extremely flattering and adorably romantic. The obvious thought would be to go with dainty and feminine accessories, but that’s boring. Add some chunky flair, ladies. Stella and Dot is ALL over these color combos for summer and I’m just loving every single piece. Pants:
The ankle length on these skinnies makes them universally perfect for heels or flats, so, basically, your entire summer wardrobe. And this brown hobo will transition you straight into fall, but paired with these summer colors it’s not too heavy. If skinny white jeans make you nervous, go up a size. Or, pair with a longer top. (Forever 21 has this adorable ruffled number in turquoise as well!)

Shorts
Here’s a way to rock a print but still wear the turq. Paired with a coral accented canvas tote and some brown woven sandals, you’ve got a perfect outfit for a summer day to accent that gorgeous sun kissed skin of yours.

Think you’ll survive it? Think again.

1. Warm Pasta Salad – Unless you have concrete evidence the dish doesn’t contain mayonnaise then don’t take the risk. One bite of Aunt Sarah’s famous Mayo-and-Bacon pasta salad that’s been baking in the sun for 6+ hours will lead to one long trip to the toilet. Forget making an appearance at your best friend’s pool party. You’ll be lucky to make an appearance outside of the bathroom.

2. White Pants Stains – Every fashion magazine pushes white pants for summer… and every television sitcom warns us about the hazards of wearing ‘em. You’re asking for grass stains, ketchup spills, or worse, the dreaded period stain. Because your body is the ultimate prankster when it comes to making sure that you get your usually regular period at the worst times ever.

3. Family Members Speaking Aloud – Hypothetically, it’s a wonderful idea to gather the family together for the annual Memorial Day barbecue. In reality you spend the whole time chocking on mini hot dogs because you’re so shocked by the fact that your grandmother thought it was appropriate to ask if you think oral sex is not real sex.

4. Bikini Body – Sure, in a post-body-image-matters-world we would all throw on our bikinis regardless of what we look like. But we’re living in an age when we’re all supposed have the body of Dakota Fanning circa 1997. Nothing’s more disappointing than looking in the mirror in your string bikini and realizing that you never got around to getting those rock-hard abs that Cosmo promised you could get in 3 days or less (food optional).

5. Sunburn –  Odds are your skin hasn’t seen sun since last August and you’re whiter than Casper’s albino cousin. No better opportunity to fall asleep in the sun for 8 hours, right? Wrong. Unless you’re soaking in a vat of SPF 500, you’re going to fry and get weird tan lines and spend the rest of the summer wearing long sleeves to the beach and zinc oxide on your nose.

White jeans are everywhere these days: magazines, store windows, tampon commercials (I don’t care how maxi that maxi tampon is, I do not believe you will have my back – or my underwear in this case – in white pants!) And they’re cute. They are a great way to lighten up denim for the summer and look so great with so many things.

I’m especially a big fan of white pants with bright tops, printed tops and denim/chambray tops. I don’t care how much the Gap or famous stylists try to tell me that denim on denim (or a chambray shirt with  jeans) is back in style, I will NOT be rocking a Canadian tuxedo of any kind any time soon. [Note: CollegeCandy loves Canada. Please don't hate us.] But pair a cute denim button down or jacket with white jeans and you’ve got yourself a hot little number. Holleration!

Here are three examples of crisp white denim for summer. And with Memorial Day/Summer BBQs/excessive day drinking around the corner, you can start rocking these ASAP. As in now. As in get yourself a pair and rock them.

White Shorts
Paired with this cute crop top and white sandals this outfit screams “I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.” Or “I like to spend my days on the beach with a boom box.” Pair with white shades OR go for the lavender, which adds a fun ’80s twist paired with the coral top. Oh, and if crop tops don’t really do it for you (like they do for Brody Jenner), just throw on a basic white tank underneath to get the same look without showing off your belly button.

White Boot Cut Jeans
The boot cut jeans are the most flattering white denim style for most figures. The key to wearing white denim is to remember two things:

1. Wear nude underwear/thong.
2. When in doubt go a size up.

White denim is not nearly as forgiving as your favorite pairs of super dark skinnies, so a little looser is okay. In fact, it’s appreciated by your fellow citizens. The boot cut is great paired with a wedge and, in this case, a bright tank (tucked in) with a super cute, loose denim bomber jacket (worn open or closed- the choice is yours!).

White Skinny Jeans
The white skinny is paired best with a more flowy top. Go for a long tunic if you wish and add a belt or something that draws your eye up. I love the brightness of the plaid and the femininity of the ruffle in this shirt! Pair with patent heals for night or black leather sandals for the day. And if it gets cool, a leather jacket paired with white jeans is, well, amazeballs. (I know $75 is pricey for a jacket, but as far as leather jackets go, this is still a pretty great steal, not to mention something you can wear all year long!)

I know what you’re thinking: white denim can only be pulled off by the super-skinny-I-say-I-eat-cookies-but-I-really-only-’eat’-water-I-totally-have-you-fooled! type of girls. But I’m here to tell you you’re wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

White denim can be worn by almost anyone given that you wear it the RIGHT way. I generally recommend going one size up when wearing white pants. Also, look at your body type; if your legs are short, if you are bottom heavy or if you just feel your  legs are not your best asset, don’t go for super skinny, super tight white pants. Stick to a boot cut, wide leg or flare. Also, pair it with a top that flows well with the bottom, A pattern is great because it brings the eye up. And don’t forget to keep the shoe neutral so that it blends and looks monochromatic. Black patent shoes paired with white jeans will only draw the eye down.

And lastly, please, for the love of g-d, don’t wear a thong if the fabric is thin. There is nothing worse than white pants accessorized with too much jiggle in your wiggle. It turns your cute little sashay down the street to anything butt (extra T intended).

These ankle jeans are perfect for summer and great to show off a cute flat. Or, the fuller leg of this second pair gives a more casual feel. You can wear them with flats or throw on a wedge. Great for us hippier girls as well.

Floral top
Here are two great options that just scream wear me while brunching outside with a mimosa. Okay twist my arm if you must…

Purse
Keep it neutral since the floral pattern on the shirt is busier

Shoes
A cream flat or a neutral (ADORB) sandal. Both cute. Both cheap. And both are white wardrobe essentials.

Sunglasses
These are just painfully chic.

“Each time you start your period, add the date to your Mon.thly account“, the website states, “and it will use your history to predict the next time your cycle will start. This provides you with a record of your menstrual cycles, which can be an important addition to your medical history. If you want, Mon.thly will also email you a customized reminder before or on your next estimated start date.”

I mean, could you do this on a calender or in a journal? Of course. But who has time to actually write something down by hand? Plus, can the calendar in your kitchen send you emails? Nope. And getting cheerful, helpful emails is always fun — especially when those emails help you avoid inching to the bathroom against the wall in those new white summer pants.
