Britney performed last night at the German Bambi Awards and she didn’t look drugged/scary/totally out of shape, which is a huge improvement over her last live performance at the 2007 VMAs.

Britney’s New Album Leaks, World Is (Strangely) Excited

Here’s a head-scratcher: after months of kooky behavior (like, I dunno, shaving your head and flashing your va-jay-jay all over LA), after the media and public alike had written her off as Queen of the Looney Tunes, America woke up this morning and decided to accept Britney Spears back into the fold of elite pop stars.

Yep, forget the wacko driving-with-your- infant-son-dangling-from- the-driver’s- seat incident, Ms. Spears is a drool-worthy role model again. If you happen to have access to the internet (which I’m assuming you do, if you’re reading this), you can’t be more than a mouse click away from a Britney love fest. Today, her newest album, Circus, was leaked online just one week before its official release, and the world is abuzz with Brit.

How does the album fare? As far as pop records go, Circus ain’t too shabby. We’ve all heard the tour-de-force “Womanizer,” and the new single “If U Seek Amy” (is she referring to Ms. Winehouse? If Britney’s looking for her, she need look no further than a London crack den) is as gritty and caustic as I imagine Ms. Spears would be after a night of boozing. But a lame vehicle for singles (and moolah) this isn’t: the song “My Baby” perked my ears right up. Could Britney–gasp– actually be crooning? Her voice shines through clearly and tenderly on what is a sweet ode to her children.

I’m still confused at how Brit Brit has achieved her massive reinvention. I mean, check her out on the cover of Rolling Stone for godsakes! As she says in the opening to the title track, “There are two kinds of people in this world: entertainers and observers.” If baffling the public counts as entertainment, then Brit, baby, you’re a star.

Britney’s video for Womanizer has hit YouTube and, hoping for another train wreck a la the 2007 VMA’s, we obviously watched.

Only it’s not a train wreck. In fact, it’s good. It’s hot. And she looks awesome. This is old Britney – not new “I’m drunk and crazy and shaving my head while chugging a Frapuccino” Britney.

Britney to “Womanize” 20/20 With Video Premiere

Everyone’s favorite celebrity train wreck is proving that she’s still chugging along on the pop star track this week. Britney Spears’ new single, “Womanizer” has already been leaked and was even featured in last week’s episode of The Hills. But this Friday, she promises a REAL comeback when the video for “Womanizer” premieres on 20/20.

20/20?!?!?

Yeah, I guess MTV was booked and VH1 wanted to squeeze in another season of The ’80s: Apparently The Greatest Decade Ever. So Brit Brit had to take her comeback vehicle over to that other prime-time music machine, 20/20.

As the world waits with bated breath for the visual celebration of “Womanizer,” let’s take a look at what we’re expecting from the video:

1) Gratuitous shots of Britney’s new-and-improved toned midsection

2) Slithering dance moves (either of the floor or pole variety)

3) Windblown hair and pouty face

4) Submissive guy candy

5) Some outrageous outfit (think “Oops I Did It Again”)

Britney Spears Don’t Want No Womanizer!

Britney Spears seems to be doing much better these days. She’s not shaving her head, she’s not drinking Frappachinos like they’re her lifeblood, and she’s allowing her trainers and managers to herd her around and turn her back into that plastic Barbie Britney we all love so well.

In an effort to show the world that Brit Brit is no longer psychotic (or completely over-worked and exhausted and taking drugs to compensate…you choose), her team has slated the release of her newest studio album, Circus, for December 2nd, her 27th birthday. Womanizer, the first single off the album, isn’t supposed to be released until November 24th, but of course the Internet got a hold of it way before then.

Take a listen and let us know what you think. Our discerning ears find it a little weak, but perhaps that extra month of “tweaking” will give it a better sound come November.
