At least that’s the mission behind the hot, new, perfectly plaid-patterned condom company, Sir Richard’s condoms.
In honor of National World AIDS day, we wanted to give it up (pun intended) to a fairly new company that makes it their mission to help out countries in need. I recently met with one of Sir Richard’s leading ladies, Mia, to talk about their company, their philosophy and their branding.
The company was founded on the belief that buying condoms is just plain awkward. You feel like everyone is looking at you, judging you and saying a Hail Mary in your honor. They’re forgetting to recognize that you’re practicing the delicate art of safe sex. Sir Richards smartly created a brand that is, for lack of a more eloquent adjective, cute. Their packaging actually makes me want to buy a couple condom boxes and put them on display. Read More »

This week was a biggie and boy am I glad I finally roused myself from my food coma to experience it. We returned from a glorious, relaxing holiday break (only to come face to face with the worst week of school EVER); we celebrated World Aids Day and Britney Spears’ birthday. It also became officially acceptable to start decorating for the Holidays, making wishlists, and breaking out the Mariah Carey Christmas album. Hollerrrr.
We’ve had some highlights of our own this week, and we’re pretty sure they’re all worth checking out. So let’s do that, shall we? And when you’re all donzo, don’t study. That’s boring! Instead, you should probably blog for a little while. Trust us, this is one skill that will serve you better than a lot of the things you learn in the classroom.
Something else that’ll serve you well? Really shiny lips. I’m pretty sure there’s some kind of law of physics that states that shiny things attract attention. And by attention, I mean every boy is going to want to kiss you.
Think your love life is crazy? We’re pretty sure one of our readers has it worse. Here’s what Tuffy Luv has to say about her predicament.
There is no know cure for AIDS, but there are steps you can take to make a difference. In the spirit of World Aids Day, we encourage you to try some of these suggestions.
Apparently being in love is healthy…despite the fact that you’re probs binging on wings with your boyf. But if living longer isn’t worth dealing with that a-hole you’ve been seeing, at least break his heart gently. Read More »

Today, December 1, is World AIDS Day – a day to take action towards informing yourself about how to protect yourself and others from HIV while reducing the prejudice of those infected. AIDS may seem like a problem only in the developing world, but it’s not. Over 1.1 million people in the USA have HIV. There remains a stigma around AIDS that can reduced the more we talk about it.
This year, some of your most-loved (or love-to-hate) celebs are giving up their digital life until their fans donate 1 million dollars by “buying life.” But you don’t have to be a celebrity with 5 million Twitter followers to make a difference.
As you sit in your dorm room (or lecture hall – we know you’re reading this in class!), you might be questioning what you can possibly do to make a difference – after all you are only one person. But, if everyone takes action, then collectively we can make some major strides. Even from that teeny, tiny room you call home.
Print out and put a poster on your door
I’m sure a lot of people walk by your room each day and chances are if there’s something different up on your door, they might take a second to stop and think about what the poster means, and maybe even generate a conversation with you about the topic.
Do your research
Read up on World AIDS Day. The best protection is knowledge. Spread what you know by talking to friends, or the random person who stops by your room after seeing your poster. Read More »

Did you know that today is World AIDS Day? No?
Well, did you know that there are nearly 33 million people living with HIV on this planet? Or that over 15 million children worldwide have been orphaned by AIDS? Or that AIDS kills 6,000 people every day in Africa?
Yeah, those are some pretty grave statistics.
And it’s not just Africa that is affected by the spread of this horrible disease. There are currently over 1.5 million people living with HIV in the U.S., many of which don’t even know. That means that “usually” practicing safe sex is not enough. Neither is trusting that your partner is clean when he or she tells you they are.
There is only one way to protect yourself against HIV, AIDS and every other STD out there:
Wrap it up.
No glove, no love.
Use a condom. Every time.
We must all do our part to stop the spread of AIDS. You can help by raising money, helping to educate, or simply doing your part and practicing safe sex. Protect yourself.
