Every week, I write a list. Definitely not a to-do list (because it’s not satisfying checking “browse J.Crew’s website” and “Re-watch every episode of Rachel Zoe” off a list) and not “that list” (because I haven’t added to that list… in forever). No, my lists are more about whatever is relevant and weighing heavy on the CollegeCandy readers’ minds (or just mine) right now. And right now the only thing on my mind is M-M-M-Monday. Shoot me.

It’s Monday. It’s 9 AM. I really, really hate my life right now. The week ahead of me has nothing but schoolwork, actual work, an overwhelming TV schedule, events and encroaching cold, rainy weather. I wake up late on Mondays (okay, almost every day). My shirt might be on inside out, but who knows – my eyes are too bleary to look in a mirror. My Sunday was spent shopping and gallivanting instead of cleaning and preparing myself mentally for the upcoming hell week.

Seriously, and if you even quote Office Space “Case of the Mondays” at me, I will smack you.

I hate Mondays and you know what, Garfield? You’re not the only one allowed to hate Mondays. All you do is clog up my newspaper, eat lasagna and rag on poor Jon all day long. Tough life.

Here are the top ten ways to pick up your Monday (aside from picking up the funnies page, clearly).

10. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Feed your need for caffeine with Starbucks seasonal treats. But, obviously be careful to not make it a weekly habit. It becomes expensive, and heavy on the calories. Definitely just keep it to the crummy Mondays.

9. Sing in the Shower. Loudly.
Scream the songs that we know are going to be over soon. I mean, really, how much longer are you going to want to sing “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz? Keep dancing to a minimum, particularly if you have glass shower doors. Not that I’m speaking from experience…. it was… a friend of mine.

8. Plan a Rachel Zoe Project Season Finale Party with Team Zoe Theme Costumes.
Just me? Come on, how fun would this be? Serving the cocktails in Starbucks cups? Oversized sunglasses? Metro/straight guys in scarves drinking Heinekens and wishing they could watch the “game” (aka RuPaul Race Out of the Closet or whatever that show’s called)? Complaining about awards season and our pounding headaches that can’t possibly be attributed to wearing 50 lbs of fur in the California heat? OK, so this won’t work for every Monday, but it’s good enough to get me through today. Who’s with me?

7. Online Shopping
There are so many great deals out there right now and with fall just around the corner, it’s time to stock up on sweaters and skinny jeans (and boots and military jackets and scarves and….). What with the whole not wanting to move on Mondays, nor looking our best to actually try on clothes, what better way to spice up the beginning of your week than a little online retail therapy? From class/work?!

6. Wear Something Fun
I’m not talking about a wild scarf. I’m talking about those leopard print undies that make you feel great no matter what.

5. Treat Yourself to a Healthy, Delicious Breakfast
This one takes a little prep work but the pay off is fantastic. Wake up early and prepare yourself a mini-breakfast feast of eggs, toast and fresh fruit. To even further spoil yourself? Take yourself out to a sit down cafe before your classes or work to unwind before turning your brain on for the day.

4. Morning Talk Shows
Nothing wakes me up more than Elisabeth Hasselbeck or Kelly Ripa screaming and hyperventilating all over day time television. In matchy-matchy clothes.

3. Read Your Favorite Blog/Site
CollegeCandy, of course, at the top of the list. But, some other favorites like NYMagazine, Celebuzz and our friends over at CollegeFashion can hit the spot too.

2. Make a List
And it doesn’t have to be a Top 10 list for a website (though that helps, too). I’m talking about a to-do list, a what-I-need-to-tackle list, a get-my-ridonk-schedule-down-on-paper-so-I-know-exactly-what-I-need-to-handle-so-I-don’t-have-a-mental-breakdown-this-week list. This will not only help you get organized and mentally prepared for the day and week ahead, but it will feel so. damn. good. every day as you victoriously cross each task off that sucker.

1. YouTube. A lot of YouTube.
Do you really want to know what I watch every day to get myself pumped up for the week? This. And this.

However, sometimes I actually pay attention to outside advice on what I should “Write a top ten about.” So I can write the Weekly Ten about it. Or rather, why their ideas are miserable. Below are some of the suggestions I’ve gotten. Honestly, I wish I could make this up.

10. “Top 10 Best Calculator Words”
“You know like if you type in 1134 it spells hell when you flip it upside down. That’s funny, right?”
No. No it’s not. Also, I doubt that you can make any more than 5.

9. “Top 10 Best Footwear”
Wait, really? Best brands? Best type of shoe? Flats, high heels? I don’t even understand this one.

8. “Top 10 Reasons Why I’m Not Upset I Don’t Live in Somalia”
Double negative and unappealing to the CollegeCandy demographic, for the most part. Also, I’m not touching other countries ever again.

7. “Top 10 ‘Guy Movies’ That Girls Like Too!”
I don’t know what exactly a “guy movie” entails and judging by the title itself, I wouldn’t expect anything less than scathing “you’re being stereotypical!” comments full hatred and internet rage.

6. “Top 10 Awesome Summer Jobs”
Let’s be serious, the only thing good about working in the summer is the clothing discount. But really, there’s nothing that’s good about slaving in retail or an office while all your friends are at the beach. Next!

5. “Top 10 Worst Sexual Experiences”
Oh, please. I would never exploit my exes/flings like that. Plus, I’m saving all of that content for my book anyway.

4. “Top 10 Best Cocktails”
Really, you want me to write ‘shot of Patron’ 10 times in a row?

3. “Top 10 Reasons Why You Will Never Be as Charming as That Southern Gentleman on YouTube Who’s Dog Poops in the Ocean.”
I have no words. I think my friend was being facetious, but I can never tell with her.

2. “Top 10 Reasons Why I Loooove Taylor Lautner”
This would be great if I actually saw New Moon, cared about the Twilight “saga” in any form or could even come up with any reason other than his dreamy abs.

There is nothing I love more than a good laugh. And more importantly, a good laugh when I’m bored. at work. at home. on a sunday. in an airport. Thanks to the internet gods of the world, there is no shortage of things that can make us laugh. A You Tube Video, a website where people share their horror stories (which are always funny) or a sight meant to be serious but makes you wonder, “is this for REALZ?”

And boy do I love it all.

So here are 5 of my favorite online sites that make me go hahaha. They make me LOL and sometimes even ROFL. Seriously. They are my go-to’s when I’m about to kill myself (or someone else) out of stress, or boredem, or a lack of desire to be productive. So, to sum that up, I pretty much visit these sites every day.

1) fmylife.com. Today, I discovered a site that I have become so addicted to that I’ve completely stopped productivity in all areas of my life. Well, except my love life – that’s always lacked productivity. FML.

In all seriousness: you will die over other people’s horrible mishaps – true or not. This site makes me feel a whole lot better about the time someone once asked me if I was pregnant…

2). Crappy Childrens Artwork - Hy.sterical.ness. I never thought that kids drawings of doggies and fire trucks could be so funny until now.

3) Postcardsfromyomomma.com – Although we are all different (yadda yadda) I believe that all mothers are the same on some level. And as fabulous as they are, they all come with a side of guilt-tripping/over protective/batsh*t craziness that makes us love them and want to medicate them and stick them in a home all at the same time (I HEART YOU, MOM). This website is funny because, well, it’s REAL. Real moms sending real emails that are annoying to some but amazing to us.

4) This you tube clip. Just plain funny.

5) We all hate soliciters. Not only are they always asking for things we don’t have (“Your university needs your money!”), but they manage to call at the most inconvenient times. ever. Take a listen and try this. It always puts me in a good mood.

6) And as a bonus just because these two never get old, never ceaese to put a smile on my face and I love them a little more every time I see them: Nobody’s Perfect and Thumbkin.

1. Pumpkin Mousse. It may be post-Thanksgiving but while the rest of the world has moved on to egg-nog or latkes, I’m more like Ross Gellar and still craving Thanksgiving leftovers. So if you still need something to be thankful for make this low fat amazing pumpkin mousse and then thank me later.

What you need: 2 Packets instant fat free/sugar free vanilla pudding, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 2 cups skim milk, one 15 ounce can of pumpkin, and one tub of fat-free Cool Whip. Make the pudding with the milk and once it’s ready, fold in the other ingredients, stick it in the fridge, maybe throw some ginger snaps on top and you’ve got yourself some guilt free leftovers.

2. While I may not love Miley Cyrus, I love this girl who loves Miley Cyrus. Seriously, over 1 million hits, tons of tribute vids back, and over 12 different videos. And those special effects? Ahhhmazing. Check out her version of Disturbia too… I sort of want to be her best friend.

3. Britney Spears’ comeback. I know, I’m a sucker like everyone else, but that magazine cover? The vid? I’ve been working out to old school Brit all week and I’m just rooting that our favorite baldie makes this comeback big (not lame-o like the last one). I know you are all excited for the documentary tomorrow night. Watch it with some pumpkin mousse for a double dose of love.

4. Kiss My Face Organics Skincare. This skincare line is fabulous because it’s all natural, meaning it’s not too harsh for your skin and gets your skin glowing the au natural way (instead of with all those harsh chemicals making their way into every other product out there). Available at Whole Foods.

5. Four Christmases. I saw it last night and I am in love. It’s that perfect balance of holiday cheesiness that you are sort of embarassed to admit you want to watch this time of year (especially when you’re, um, JEWISH) with a side of Vince Vaughn funny-ness. Seriously I could marry that guy.

1) The Rachel Zoe Project. I don’t know if it’s her voice, her constant addiction to her Tea from Starbucks, her over-sized furs or the bones jutting out of her body – but there is something so addicting about Rachel Zoe. The hour always delivers entertaining ridiculousness, amazing fashion (that if given the choice to own all that vintage-ness or have my way with Brad Pitt — I would choose the former), and let us not forget her assistant Brad. Anyway, I find myself parked on my couch, Venti Tea in tow every week.

2) Canvas photos. Such a great way to make your fav pics pretty artwork, but chose wisely; that photo of you doing a keg stand from last week’s football game may not be the best choice to be printed in black and white and hung on your wall as artwork. But then again — it could be AWESOME. (Or, if you’re watching too much Rachel Zoe: “I Die”)

3) Pumpkin Spice. It’s just not fall without it, but since Starbucks manages to both steal our hearts AND rob our wallets, why not try to make it a treat, or buy the syrup and make it at home yourself?

4) Christina Aguilera. I love her. Really. So much so that I wanted to BE her. True story: I dressed up as her for Halloween when I was 14, I made some of my biggest fashion mistakes because I followed her (tiger print pants, silver shimmer eyeshadow, hoop earrings that I could probably hula-hoop with and a bandanna…totally normal attire for Hebrew School), and I even convinced myself I should be a pop-star until realized I can’t sing. These days I’m stuck just adoring her (and singing to her music in the shower), so I am pumped about her new song, Keeps Getting Better (a great workout booster), and her new album which comes out exclusively to Target on November 11th! All of my excitement obviously means you should be excited too.

5) Me Too shoes. When walking around campus or a city, you want to be both cute AND comfortable. Until I found Me Too Flats I didn’t think this was possible. But these adorable (and affordable) flats have cushioning on the soles so your tootsies are totally supported. And anyone who can assure me that I won’t be forced to walk barefoot outside by the end of the day deserves a spot on my Love List.

Golden Girls was one of my all-time favorite shows growing up, and even more so now that I actually understand all the jokes. It was Boca Raton’s answer to Sex and the City…before Carrie Bradshaw was even tapping away on her MacBook. It was way ahead of its time, and has since stood the test of time. Not the fashion, maybe, but the content for sure.

Of course, Sophia wasn’t Getty’s only role. This woman was a comedic genius and definitely someone I have always looked up to (metaphorically, of course). I spent all morning looking for funny old videos of her career on YouTube (because my DVD collection of the entire Golden Girls series isn’t enough), but instead found a bunch of crazy people making sad montages set to depressing tunes. It just didn’t seem to fit; this woman spent her life making us laugh. Why should we remember her with tears?

Then I found this gem. Estelle Getty at her finest. God, I love this woman.

I’m sorry if this video disturbs anyone. It kinda disturbs me. Mostly because baby mice are freaky looking and I’m afraid that Winehouse and Doherty and gonna pull a Lenny (a la Of Mice and Men) and somehow pet those poor things to death.
