There are over 100 million sites on the Internet. 100 million! You might think you know about all the important ones (CollegeCandy, Gmail, Google, Zappos…), but there are thousands of other sweet sites out there (like Soshiku, Party School Texts and Daily Burn) and more showing up every day! We get it – it’s not easy or fun sifting through the crap and porn to find those gems, so we’re gonna bring the gems to you. Just sit back, kick up those feet and allow us to introduce you to the diamonds in the internet rough.]
Finding the right outfit to wear for a job interview, a night out, or a first date can be difficult—you want to look great, but sometimes you just need someone else’s opinion on how an outfit looks or whether it’s appropriate for the occasion. Sure, you can usually just ask your friends what they think, but what do you do when no one’s around and you desperately need a second opinion?
Go Try It On is your answer. In this new online community, users can share outfits and get opinions of whether it looks good or works for the occasion. Go Try It On works two ways: you can either “give an opinion” or “get an opinion.”
The “give an opinion” part of the site is pretty straightforward: browse through looks that other users have submitted, vote for them to either “Wear it” or “Change it,” and provide helpful tips and constructive criticism.
And the “get an opinion” section is pretty simple, too. First, upload a picture of an outfit via webcam or a file on your computer. Next, describe the occasion (work, a party, a night out, etc.) and the brands you’re wearing. Finally, choose how you want to share it. Users have the option to either share the look with the entire Go Try It On community or to keep it private and share it only with friends and family via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter.
But I’m all about the community.
The reason I think Go Try It On works so well is that the commenters are all strangers. It’s so much easier to give an honest opinion to someone you don’t know rather than someone close to you. Try it the next time you want the truth on whether that dress really makes you look fat or need some quick advice on what shoes to wear. You’ll look great, all thanks to the kindness and help of strangers!
