In Our Makeup Bag: Make Up For Ever Rock For Ever Eye Shadow Palette

Is it just me or is there another “revolutionary” new makeup product introduced every freaking day?! Just walking into Ulta or Sephora (or even Walgreens!) sends many chicas into fits of hysteria, reaching for the nearest brown bag to regulate their breathing. It’s all so overwhelming.

So how can you know which product – among the sea of thousands – is the best? Which does what you need it to do? Which ones are worth the extra money? Let me help. I don’t know every beauty product out there, but I’ve tested a lot of them and I’ll let you know which are worth the money and which are not.

What it is: Make Up For Ever Rock For Ever Eye Shadow Palette (Wow that’s a mouthful!)

Why this should be in your bag
I feel like it’s been ages since I’ve reviewed a palette! Even though they are super cute and convenient, it’s hard to find one where I would use every single shade.

Make Up For Ever is known for its top-notch cosmetic products, including buttery shadow that blends like no other. I sometimes find companies skimp on the quality in palettes, but trust me, the Rock For Ever Palette is still filled with the formula you know and love (or should try out!).

Upon first glance the Make Up For Ever Rock For Ever Palette colors might seem a bit blah. Yeah, sure, black + silver + white = a great smokey eye, but really, what else? But then I saw that shimmering apricot color in the top right corner and my imagination was kick started. This palette can be used to create a myriad of looks, which, surprisingly, include simple, everyday ones.

How to use it
For a simple, daytime look, I like to wet an eyeliner brush and use the black shade (Diamond Black 307) to line my top lash-line and then smudge it out. Next, using a soft liner brush, apply the white (White Shimmer 7) to your lower waterline and inner corner, by your nose. Trust me, this creates a beautiful iridescent glow and isn’t chalky or opaque. If you’re feeling like wearing a bit more shadow, dust the apricot (Diamond Beige 306) all over your lid and you’re ready to go!

(L to R: Diamond Black 307, Diamond Beige 306, Silver 82, White Shimmer 7)

Of course, this palette also lets you create a creme de la creme smokey eye. Start by applying the silver (Silver 82) all over your lid. Next, either wet or dry line your top and half of your lower lashlines with the black. Grab the brush you used for the silver and smudge the black out, up into your outer “V” on the top and just slightly along the bottom. Finish it off by blending the silver into your browbone with the white shade and also place it in your inner corner for a look that pops!

CC Rating: A
The Make Up For Ever Rock For Ever Eye Shadow Palette is a makeup addict’s dream! With 4 unique, but complimentary shades, you’ll be able to use this every single day. This has quickly become a staple in my makeup bag and will prove great for traveling light. I can’t believe Make Up For Ever has actually come out with a 4-shade palette with such a range of looks! I can also see a really pretty liner combo using the black and the apricot to smudge it out. See – my mind is just totally jump started by this palette!

It’s also a great deal. Just like it says on the Sephora website (the exclusive dealer for this one), 4 regular MUFE eyeshadows will run you $76, but this palette is only $45!

If you’re looking for that perfect sultry eye or just want to add versatility to your makeup stash, this one will totally suit your needs. I can’t wait to see what palettes Make Up For Ever come out with next because the Rock For Ever Palette was a hit!
