In Our Makeup Bag: Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette

What It Is:
Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:
Eyeshadow is one of my favorite beauty products. Your eyes are the only place that you can get away with sporting bright teals, purples and greens. (I mean, they don’t make teal blush for a reason.) However, most workplaces don’t look fondly on the new intern whose eyelids are straight outta the ’80s (read: covered in bright blue shadow). To help you ease into the professionalism that  is summer work, I found the perfect palette.

The Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette is the newest in Too Faced’s lineup of foolproof eyeshadow sets. The palette consists of “romantic-inspired shadow shades that will bring out your inner bride, bombshell or classic beauty, all with an ultra-feminine touch”. Even though Too Faced didn’t intend on creating a career-palette, the mix of neutrals and muted colors make it perfect for either purpose!

How To Use It:
To help you out even further, Too Faced has organized the 9-shadow palette into three looks. The base shadow for all three of these looks is 2g, while the two depth shades are 0.9g. You can choose from a Day, Classic or Fashion look, or make your own and mix and match the shadows! I’ve swatched all 9 shadows in the same order as the actual set for you to see.

Soulmates (shimmering nectar), I Do (smoky taupe), Unveil (smoldering coal)

Kiss the Bride (pink petal), Cut the Cake (heathered mist), First Dance (midnight orchid)

Bouquet Toss (babys breath), Honeymoon (gilded fern), Ever After (spicy chocolate)

CC Rating: A
I’m really loving this palette! The mix of neutrals, matte and shimmery, plus a few dazzles of color is wonderful. I recently went on a weekend trip and brought this as my only eyeshadow. It totally suited my needs, ranging from subtle makeup for a conference to a more intense look on a night out to a shopping trip with my cousin. I used almost all 9 shadows and each had excellent blendability and color payoff. Some are slightly sheerer than others, but paired with other shadows in the set, they’re perfect. I’ve never tried Too Faced shadows before, but am absolutely a convert.

The Romantic Eye palette is also great bang for your buck. You’re getting 11.4g of shadow for $35 (a $52 value according to the website). The only thing that may keep you from taking the plunge is if you’re a seasoned shadow pro. None of the colors in this set are particularly unique, so you may have dupes for many shades already. However, if you’re just starting out, or a total neutral-groupie like myself, then you’re not going to want to let the Too Faced Romantic Eye palette pass you by!
