5 Historical Books That Should Be On Your List

||

[Hello everyone! The Saturday Read has now been transformed into the Saturday Reading List and I’m here with its maiden voyage. We thought, instead of hitting you with 2 books every month, why not a comprehensive list of 5? Every month, I’ll be selecting a theme and 5 of my fave reads to go along with it.]

Naturally, this month’s could have been “Halloween“-themed, but I’m never one to go with the obvious. November 5th is Guy Fawkes Day, a holiday celebrated in Britain. In 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of men planned to blow-up the British Parliament and kill the Protestant monarch of the time, King James I. Their plan was thwarted and to celebrate the divine intervention that obviously protected the king from being assassinated, citizens lit bonfires and Guy Fawkes Day was basically born. Yes, V for Vendetta is loosely-based on this whole Gunpowder plot, if you were wondering. Accordingly, I decided to stick with a historical theme for this month’s list. Let me know if you’ve read any of the books or plan to pick them up!
