In Our Makeup Bag: Make Up For Ever La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural

What It Is:
Make Up For Ever La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural in Boheme and Folk

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:

Make Up For Ever is a fantastic cosmetics brand, known for professional-level products. Their Rouge Artist line of lipsticks are pigment-saturated and deliver a huge dose of color. I love the formula, but sometimes don’t want to wear such an intense lip shade. This is where the new Rouge Artist Natural range comes in. They are “light-coverage lipsticks with a soft, shiny finish.” For the new La Boheme collection, they’ve released two: Boheme and Folk.

How To Use It:
These lipsticks are pretty straight forward in terms of application. A few swipes should deposit the perfect amount of color and shine. These two shades also have an iridescence to them, adding dimension and subtle shimmer. One thing I love about sheerer lippies is that you don’t often need a mirror to touch-up! I also wouldn’t advise a lip brush for these; you won’t pick up much color on one, so it will take an awfully long time to apply!

(L-R: Boheme, Folk)

CC Rating: A
I am totally thrilled that MUFE has decided to expand their Rouge Artist line! The Natural finish is sheer, shiny and provides a great option for makeup-lovers who don’t want to wear a bold lip everyday. Boheme is a creamy nude, but the iridescence gives it a bit of a unique flair. It suits my pale, cool skin well, so I’m not sure about appropriateness for darker or warmer skin tones. Folk is a gorgeous coral-pink that has quickly made it into my favorites. The finish makes it more wearable than a stark, matte coral, and I can see myself busting this one out tons this summer.
The only things I’m not loving about these are the chemically scent and the price. Sure, $19 isn’t an outrageous amount to pay for a lipstick, but MAC’s Lustre formula is very similar to these and they are priced at $14.50. If you love the shades, $4.50 shouldn’t keep you from purchasing, but it’s a thought that I wanted to share.
The Make Up For Ever La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural Lipsticks are $19 and available exclusively at Sephora.com.
