The Ultimate Chili Cheese Dip [Intro to Cooking]

So, I actually love watching sports with all the bros…sometimes. I love playing sports and normally watching them too, just sometimes it gets just a little, tiny, smidge bit boring. I love watching basketball the most, so all of this March Madness stuff hasn’t even been that bad. But, as we all know, food just makes everything more bearable. So, if I’m going to finish out this NCAA basketball tourney strong, I’m going to make myself an easy appetizer that’s bold enough to carry me through to that final buzzer.

I’m going to tell you how to make a delicious and easy chili cheese dip that all the boys are going to be begging you for. What’s great about it is it is easy to tailor to your specific taste so go ahead and load it up with lots of extras if you want!

Here is what you’ll need:

-fairly large microwave safe dish

-one can of Hormel chili

-one package of cream cheese

-package of shredded cheese of your choice

-suggested extra toppings:

  • jalapenos (for some kick!)
  • guacamole
  • sour cream
  • diced tomatoes, onions, or bell peppers (gotta make it at least look a little healthy)

-Bag of any type of tortilla chips (I love flavored one’s with this dip!)

What you need to do:

1.) Make sure you leave your cream cheese out of the fridge for a bit to bring it to room temperature.

2.) You can make this dip my mixing the cream cheese into the chili or you can put the cream cheese brick into the dish whole, and pour the chili over it, covering it completely.

  • If you decide to mix the cream cheese in, you’ll need to cut the brick up into smaller squares to help with melting. You’ll do this and microwave it in increments of 30 seconds, stirring between.

4.) Whether you’ve already mixed your cream cheese into the chili, or you have it covered with the chili and have yet to nuke it, now is the time to add as much cheese as you’d like to the top of the dish. With both methods you’ll need to nuke the dish to melt the cheese topping. This should be done in 15 second increments to make sure you don’t overdo it.

5.) Add on whatever extras you’d like and enjoy with any crunchy chips!
