People, Places, Things: Stuff People Looked Like At The Met Gala

The 2013 Met Gala at the┬áMetropolitan Museum of Art’s yearly Costume Institute exhibit was punk rock themed. Naturally no one dressed particularly punk rock. Perhaps it is the most punk rock to completely disregard the conventional notions of what punk rock is and where whatever you want. However, as much as I’d like to think these folks were being punk and chic, most of them were just bizarrely dressed which is clear indication that perhaps they were trying a bit too hard to look a certain way and missed the mark. Or maybe fashion is just weird and we should all shrug our shoulders and keep moving.

Either way, it’s always fun to look at clothing and try to imagine more practical inspiration from everyday objects, familiar faces and animals. While most fashion designers are likely to be inspired by history and architecture, I like to pretend they are inspired by fish and Ikea furniture. I keep it real.
