25 Things To Expect After Graduation In GIFs

Life after college is probably going to be one of the most depressing times in your life. Maybe – MAYBE – it won’t be but I think for the majority of people it is. If you’re fortunate enough to have an excellent support system and job soon after college don’t take it for granted because you’re lucky. When you’re a senior that first semester feels great, you’re about to be free. As soon as second semester hits you become this ball of anxiety because you know adulthood is going to begin but it feels as though there aren’t many prospects. You begin to see a few other people get success and wonder why you haven’t. You have to move back home or work a menial job to live on your own. You feel like you’re doing everything you can with very little results.

After college I snagged a paid internship at to keep my head above water and so that I wouldn’t have any gaps in my resume. I was set on being a writer/editor so I knew I had to continue doing something in my field. It was my fifth internship. I worked very hard there and was lucky enough to have editors empathetic to my situation and who really taught me quite a few things about writing. After 9 months – yep, 9 months – of not having a “real job” after graduation – those wonderful editors recommended me for my position here.

I consider 9 months of unemployment to be a success story, I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. Most of the people I know who graduated with me still cannot find full-time work, let alone work in their field. I don’t mean to get bleak here, but get ready for your quater life crisis. You’ll definitely be able to get through it but it won’t always feel easy. At times it certainly won’t be fun. It’s a rite of passage so expect these 25 things.
