From time to time, I like to re-read some of the classic novels I read back in high school. Even though I’m only four years past high school, I realize I’ve changed so much as a person. I didn’t fully understand a lot of what I read back then because I lacked the experiences I have now. There’s some quote the goes something like, “You can’t read the same book twice because every time you read, you’re a different person.”
Recently, I re-read J.D. Salinger’s classic, The Catcher in the Rye. There’s so much depth and complexity to this seemingly plotless book that I didn’t remember connecting to when I was younger. As I was reading the book, I found myself being drawn to certain pieces of music that were reminiscent of Holden Caulfield and what he experienced in the novel. I put together this playlist on Spotify to accompany the book. Even if you don’t re-read it, take a listen and you’ll remember how it made you feel.
