Andrew Garfield Wanted Spider-Man To Be Gay

Andrew Garfield wanted Spider-Man to be gay. He told The Amazing Spider-Man producer, Matt Tolmach, “I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ. And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality?  It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”

He’s right, it’s not groundbreaking, since you know gay and bisexual teens exist. It’s about time we have a superhero movie with a gay lead. Andrew Garfield went on about his man crush on buzz worthy actor Michael B. Jordan of Fruitvale Station, The Wire and Friday Night Lights.

Andrew Garfield said Michael B. Jordan would be an excellent Mary Jane or perhaps just M.J. to his gay Peter Parker, “I’ve been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since The Wire. He’s so charismatic and talented. It’d be even better—we’d have interracial bisexuality!”

I can see the fan fiction already. I can see my fan fiction already. Ship. Ship. Ship. When Entertainment Weekly asked The Amazing Spider-Man director, Mark Webb, about Andrew’s comments, Mark Webb already had heard the spiel. He said, “Michael B. Jordan, I know. Uh, are you kidding?”

A gay Spider-Man in an interracial relationship, who wouldn’t go see that? Even if it was bad movie it would still be interesting to watch.
