8 Funny News Blunders to Make You Forget About the Horrible One That Happened Yesterday

We’ve all been following the developments regarding the Asiana plane crash that occurred last week, and unfortunately some news stations aren’t following them very well. TVU Channel 2, a Fox affiliate in the San Francisco Bay Area, issued an apology on Friday after they had a major on-air blunder by an anchorwoman that involved totally and completely obvious fake names of Asiana flight 214 pilots.

The anchorwoman proceeded to read the names that are extremely racists and completely insensitive on air.  “Sum Ting Wong,” “Wi Tu Lo,” “Ho Lee Fuk,” and “Bang Ding Ow” were spouted off as a TV graphic displayed the names next to a photo of the charred cabin.

Ay yi yi, it’s just so bad that I can’t look away. How does something like this even happen? Aren’t there producers? Editors? People in charge of not having their news station look like idiots? I get that mistakes are made every day, but this is just ridiculous. I’m flabbergasted that this got put on the air.

As I read about this story and did a couple face palms, I discovered that KTVU was not the first news station to deal with a huge news blunder. In fact, it happens often and sometimes they’re extremely funny.
