How To Remove Makeup Stains From Clothes

Makeup stains left on clothing are the worse. It’s so freaking hot in NYC (I am the only one who is loving the heatwave.) and unfortunately that means every single collar of my white t-shirts is covered with makeup. No matter how many times I wash them, there’s still tan stains on my clothes. Thinking I was a weirdo who was really sweaty and messy, I assumed this was a personal issue but I overheard some girls talking at American Apparel with the same makeup trubz. So today, I present, how to remove makeup stains off ya’ damn clothes.

What You’ll Need To Remove . . .

Foundation – 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, Liquid Detergent or Liquid Soap

Lipstick – Isopropyl Alcohol or Liquid Detergent

Mascara – Oil solvents, like Carbona or WD 40.

How To Remove Makeup Stains From Clothes

Step 1. Blot excess stain with paper towels until stain no longer transfers.

Step 2. Pour a tiny amount of the cleanser onto an inconspicuous part of the fabric to test for discoloration. (Fair warning: These methods may damage fabrics such as silk or wool.)

Step 3. Pour a few drops of the cleanser directly onto the stain.

Step 4. Using a toothbrush scrub the stain by pressing down with thumb and massaging in a circular motion.

Step 5. Wash the fabric as usual.

Step 6. Super important: Air dry. Do not put clothing into a dryer otherwise the stain will set and become nearly impossible to remove. Only put in dryer when you are certain the stain is gone.
