What Do Guys Really Think About Sex On The First Date? We Asked!

It’s an age old question – sex on the first date, yay or nay? I remember an episode of Sex and The City, you know the way women in the early 00s got their information, where Carrie freaks out because she think she slept with Mr. Big too soon. Personally, I’ve always been under the impression that if a boy judges you for sleeping with him too soon than he’s a hypocrite because he was also doing the deed.

Cosmo also seemed to share that opinion with me. Recently they published an article about what guys “really think” about sex on the first date. Cosmo‘s poll found that 67% of men don’t really care if you have sex with them on the first date or the tenth. I say, hats off to that 67% percent. A friend of mine had sex for the first time on date number two, and thankfully he didn’t think anything was off about it even though the ENTIRE next day she stressed about whether or not he was going to call. It turns out that’s common too, 87% of women thought that a guy would think less of them after they slept with them on the first date. How that’s possible makes no sense to me, but I thought I’d ask the experts – my guy friends.

Keep in mind some of these results aren’t typical, and these are all 20-24 year old boys.

“I don’t necessarily think it would discount her as girlfriend material, but if I really liked her I’d probably wait to have sex with her anyway.”

“Honestly, I probably would not consider her girlfriend material, but I tend to stay away from first date encounters. I mean, I wouldn’t want her to think less of me for having sex with her too soon, but I wouldn’t probably have sex with her anyway that soon.”

“Yeah, I don’t think I would like it if a girl slept with me too soon.”

“I wouldn’t care at all. I mean, if I slept with her there was obviously something I liked about her.”

“It’s really more about chemistry, isn’t it?”

“I think the first date is more for the first kiss, but the second date is okay.”

So there you have it folks. I mean, I didn’t poll every male in my life, obviously but I think the range is there. I was surprised to find that most of the boys I talked to would rather wait to have sex with someone they’re trying to romance.
