Protect Your Coif from the Cold with this DIY Hair Mask

There are tons of things that can damage your hair. Of course, the first perpetrators that come to mind are heat tools, coloring, chemical straightening and the like. But in addition to these processes we choose to put our manes through, the environment can be just as damaging if you don’t take steps to protect. Sun damage is very real as are extreme temperatures. In the colder months, the bitter air can make hair dry and frizzy – not a good look. But all you need to do is open your pantry to find ingredients that will make your mane soft and smooth. This DIY hair mask uses avocado, known to strengthen and help hair grow. Plus, their high fat content prevents breakage and dryness. Olive oil conditions and adds shine while honey moisturizes.

What you need:

1 avocado
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp honey

Cut the avocado into pieces and mash with a fork. In a blender, combine the avocado, olive oil and honey and puree. Distribute the mixture evenly throughout your hair, pull it into a bun, cover with a shower cap and leave in for about 45 minutes. Wash it out and voila! Your hair will be softer, smoother and protected from the chilly air.
