Paul Walker May Have Died in a Real-Life Street Race, Cops Report

It was with heavy hearts that we told y’all Paul Walker had died Saturday in a tragic car wreck, and now new details have emerged regarding the deadly accident. TMZ is reporting that police suspect Walker and Roger Rodas, the vehicle’s driver, were involved in a street race that ultimately resulted in their demise. The portion of road in Santa Clarita where the accident occurred is allegedly notorious street racing territory, and it has already been speculated that high speeds may have contributed to the crash. Right now, cops are looking for video and witnesses who could shed light on the situation.

Rogas was driving the Porsche Carrera GT out of Always Evolving, his high-end auto shop that Walker was part owner of, when Walker hopped in for a ride. On their way back to the shop, it appears as though the power steering malfunctioned on the Porsche, causing Rogas to lose control and crash. Friends of Walker and Rogas saw the car engulfed in flames, and ran the 500 yards from Always Evolving to the crash site with fire extinguishers to try to stop the fire. Police then arrived on the scene and literally had to drag away one of Walker’s heartbroken childhood friends and detain him until the scene was cleared.

We expect more details will come to light over the next couple days as more witnesses step forward. For all the latest developments, stay tuned to TMZ, who first broke the news that Paul Walker, who was only 40, passed away in this horrific car accident.
