Having Fun with Too Faced’s “A Few of My Favorite Things” Set [In Our Makeup Bag]

What It Is:

Too Faced ‘A Few of My Favorite Things’ Set*

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:

Arguably Too Faced’s best set yet, ‘A Few of My Favorite Things’ features¬†20 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 2 bronzers, 1 Lip Injection Color Bomb! and 1 mini Better Than Sex Mascara handpicked by founder Jerrod Blandino. Stored in a rather thin palette, the combination of eye and cheek products is great and varied enough to create dozens of unique looks. The adorable makeup bag and case designed by Mary MacDonald didn’t hurt the appeal of this set either, and I couldn’t wait to try it out!

How To Use It:

This set comes with four suggested looks, but longtime readers of this column know that I rarely follow those; I get inspired by palettes and am far too excited about my own ideas! I’ve added a variety of eye looks that I’ve done with this palette to the gallery, with breakdowns for each one. Basically, choose your eyeshadows and apply, apply a blush and/or bronzer, swipe on some mascara and the lip product and you’re ready to go.

CC Rating: A+

It hurts me that this review comes out after the set has sold out on Sephora.com – if you can find it in your local Sephora store, YOU MUST! Like I prefaced in the introduction, ‘A Few of my Favorite Things’ is Too Faced’s best set yet. By and large, the quality was outstanding and the value is huge ($436 worth of product for just over $50!). My favorite shadows in the set are Chocolate Milk, Honey Honey, Crisp Apple Strudel and Blue Satin Sheets. A few of the shadows were disappointing, with Snowflakes and Moon on Their Wings having fallout and Ooh La Orchid lacking pigmentation and being rather chalky, but the remaining 17 were all problem-free. The 2 blushes were excellent – pigmented, smooth and all-day wearing. Chocolate Soleil bronzer is a tad too dark for me to wear right now, but I can pull it on in the Summer. The darker half of Sun Bunny gave me the same issue, but the lighter half makes for a beautiful blush and reminds me a lot of NARS Luster.

You’ll notice there is no lip swatch of the Color Bomb! and that’s because I really dislike the burning sensation these impart on your lips. I actually find it painful. If you can handle intense lip plumpers, then you may really love this, but I’ll pass. Better Than Sex Mascara is one of my all-time favorites and I was so happy to get a travel size with this set.
