There’s something about a new season of The Bachelor that gives me all of the warms and fuzzies. Though a huge perk of the show is clearly making fun of the girls (who cries in a fetal position and says they want Juan Pablo to die?), the biggest part of it this year for me is loving Juan Pablo!! I sincerely want him to find love and be happy and give his daughter a new mom (if it can’t be me, of course).
The girls were relatively normal in their introductions—with a few exceptions. Lauren S. (my number one draft pick!) came out of the limo with a HUGE piano, and she didn’t even play it well! However this did lead to an adorable moment where Juan Pablo ran into the mansion unexpectedly to get her name!
There was also one woman who pretended to be pregnant which was obscene. And one girl asked to dance. Overall, there were some downright normal introductions, which I appreciate!
As I should have suspected, Juan brought in speakers and funny props to the cocktail party. I am amazed this has never been done before! He just started a dance party and got the party going. I love this! But even with his brilliant attempts to make everyone feel super comfortable, a lot of women made him feel pretty awkward.
One crazy chick literally gave him a full body massage. And then Lauren H. thought it was best to tell him that two MONTHS ago she was dumped out of the blue by her FIANCE. I can’t. Do these women think the way to make a man fall in love with you is to make him feel super awkward?
Anyways, what I expected from Juan was to pick a lot of fun, peppy, dancer types. I was really, really alarmed by how tonight went. Him giving the first impression rose to Sharlene was super surprising. But, you know what, he just wanted her to feel comfortable. He liked that she was sophisticated, and that she wasn’t trying so hard… Though I suspect this is because she isn’t that into him. Since she accepted the rose by saying “Sure” and “Thank you, sir.” Accascuseme?
I suspect this season will be full of drama. This is a crazy group of women, and also perhaps the hottest group of women I’ve seen in a while.
Most importantly, I suspect this season will be a little heartbreaking for Juan. I don’t think this dude knows what he’s gotten himself into—and I don’t think he’s the kind of guy to feed into any of this drama. The season premiers make it seem like he really struggles with all of it, and I’m a little worried for our little nugget.
Hands down, I’m more excited about this season than I have been since our boy Sean!
