We’re nearing the end of January, which means that, according to many studies, seven out of ten of us have already given up on our New Year’s Resolutions. As the most common resolution is to get fit and lose weight, it looks like we all need a little bit of help, fitness-wise.

Who better to ask for guidance than Cassey Ho, the YouTube fitness guru (with over 1 million subscribers, no less) who founded Blogilates? Whether you just need some extra motivation or you’re a complete health newbie in need of a diet and exercise plan, Cassey has all the answers you need. Read our interview below to make 2014 your healthiest year yet!

CC: Tell us a bit about yourself and your approach to fitness. Why do you enjoy fitness? What makes Pilates such a great workout?

Cassey Ho: Hi, I’m Cassey Ho, creator of Blogilates – an online fitness community with free workout videos, free meal plans, and overall…great positive, supportive energy from people all over the world wanting to get fit and healthy together. I post new POP Pilates videos on YouTube weekly. I love fitness because of the joy it gives me during and after my workout. I feel stronger, empowered, and more energized. Pilates is so wonderful because all you need is your bodyweight to get an intense total body workout. You don’t even need equipment!

CC: Fitness-based New Year’s Resolutions are the type of resolution that always seems to fall through. Could you give us some tips on how to make them stick?

1. Make smaller baby goals that eventually lead up to the big end of the year goal.
2. Write down your goal and keep it by your computer or on your bathroom mirror so you can see it everyday.
3. BE SPECIFIC. Know what you want and want it bad enough to make it happen.

CC: What are some simple New Year’s resolutions all of us, from fitness-phobes to health fanatics, could make to lead to a healthier life?

CH: Eat more vegetables and drink more water. Your physique and energy are determined 80% by your diet, so let’s focus on eating well for our body and our mind.

CC: Could you tell us some tips on staying motivated and making time for fitness, something a lot of people struggle with?

CH: Find something that you love. Not everyone has to be a runner or a crossfitter. If dancing is your thing, join a dance class and you’ll find that you’re getting a great workout without feeling like it’s a chore. This way you’ll really stick to your new lifestyle.

CC: How can Blogilates help us to get fit in the new year?

CH: There are free workout videos and meal plans on my blog for you to follow! Let me be your personal trainer and join the Blogilates community to be inspired and surround my amazing, positive, and vibrant people who want to see you succeed.

6. Finally, what are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2014?

To sleep more! Haha.
