10 Signs Mercury Is No Longer In Retrograde

Mercury retrograde ends today! Finally! Yes, finally! Maybe astrology isn’t your thing, maybe it is and you still have no idea what I am talking about but Mercury has been retrograde for weeks now from February 6 until today. When Mercury ditches us all kinds of crazy things can happen: transportation gets screwed up, there’s all kinds of miscommunication and things start to breakdown. Mercury is a time where everyone feels blegh for some reason. Whenever I feel like crap I like to do a quick Google search: “Is Mercury Retrograde? Um, yes, thanks, now I know why everything is terrible!” Now, astrology is questionable at best and total bullshit at worst but it’s nice to have some sort of planetary explanation for a polar vortex and petty arguments that never cease to end. Now that it’s over, here’s what you can expect besides sunshine and unicorns.

1. You feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.

Mercury’s retrograde affects everyone differently but when Mercury waves goodbye it can feel like an intense burden. Like everything is the same but a little off. Things that were fine seem stressful, things that were fun seem stale, people who always understand you just don’t seem to get it. When Mercury returns things just feel right again.

2. All your devices started working again.

Mercury rules over communication and electronics (for some reason) so when the planet retrogrades devices can fall a part, especially the ones you purchase during Mercury’s retrograde. If that new phone or laptop stopped working, a solution may be in your  near future now that good ole Mercury is back. Just a few days ago my computer screen fell from 3 inches above the ground and was OBLITERATED.

3. Those petty arguments you were having with friends and family have been resolved.

Good communication is key to any relationship whether it’s at work, at home, school or with your boo. During Merc’s retrograde all those funny jokes may sound mean, all those compliments may sound passive aggressive and all those text messages will be misread. Alas, your emojis will be understood again.

4. There aren’t as many delays, traffic or setbacks when traveling.

The Polar Vortex and Mercury peacing out has been a transit disaster. Traffic, delayed trains, cancelled flights—everyone is suffering the inconvenience of the weather and Mercury’s abandonment. This should be ending SOON.

5. That ex finally went away after mysteriously reappearing.

When Mercury disappears, exes tend to reappear. Yep, Mercury going retrograde tends to cause us to reflect on the past and bring back all the assholes from it. This can be a good thing, though. Maybe you wanted to get back with your ex or maybe you needed that closure. Maybe it’s not an ex but a friend from the past that you needed to reconnect with. During this time you may find the path to resolutions with old flames and friends.

6. Work stress has finally subsided.

Bad communication at work = bad work environment. Bad travel = bad punctuality. Bad electronics = impossible to work. Here at CC, we’ve been experiencing all three! Public transportation has been terrible, the internet has been going out about once a week due to wiring issues in the building, conversations have been flying passed our heads and never reaching our ears. Blame Mercury because it’s a perfect storm for all the things that can make work feel stressful! Things will get better starting NOW.

7. You’re finally seeing things clearly.

That cross you’ve been bearing. That albatross around your neck. That feeling that something isn’t right can affect and impair your judgment. When you feel crappy everything seems that way. Once your negative head space subsides you’ll be able to see things more clearly. All those things that seemed terrible actually aren’t so bad.

8. That lease or contract you signed, that job or assignment you took turned out to be a real bummer but is getting better.

Taking on new work, making finite decisions and signing contracts is frowned upon when Mercury retrogrades because what you sign up for often turns out to be “not what you expected.” Things may still not be what you expected but they may not be so bad after all.

9. You’ve felt like you’re in a rut but things starting to improve.

You stopped going out, you stopped hanging with friends, you stopped feeling excited about things . .  .  stagnation is inherent to the retrograde, so feeling like you’re slipping into a tar pit without anyway out is normal.

10. You’ve been feeling misunderstood but now people are starting to get you again.

No one gets your new outfit. No one gets your jokes. No one gets your ideas. Why doesn’t anyone get you? People will finally stop hating on you.
