Festivals, Sex and Suspicious Parents is a real, actual show that exists on BBC Three where parents watch their beloved children tweak out and act like drunk, belligerent assholes at an EDM festival. What’s interesting is that the parents, after seeing their daughter pee in public and yell at a redheaded fellow just for being redheaded, say she should have been born a boy—as if this behavior would be acceptable for a guy? Next, they see their son pull his “bum” out, then kiss a girl and call her a slut. However, the dad takes the sexism down and quickly acknowledges that if the girl kissed him she probably found him attractive and isn’t a slut. Then the father says his son should stop labeling all women as sluts just because one girl smooched him at a party. How can you have levelheaded parents and still be such a knob?
The experiment is interesting because whenever Editor-in-Chief Alex sees a young person doing something ridiculous (like that kid who brought a flamethrower on a college campus) she says, “That is someone’s son!” Would you do half the ridiculous shit you do if your parents could be watching? Of course not but that’s why we do it because we know our parents aren’t watching. Derp! A better question is should we be judged based on the random dumb shit we say in passing when completely drunk? Maybe, a little bit. Lastly, what’s with all the ginger shaming?
