Rock the Oxblood Lip Trend 3 Different Ways with Burberry [In Our Makeup Bag]

What It Is:

Burberry Lip Cover, Lip Mist, and Lip Glow in No. 33 Oxblood

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:

Oxblood is THE lip color this winter. Since Burberry does the same shades across different formulas, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show you how to wear this vampy color at the intensity you’re comfortable with!

The Lip Cover is their regular lipstick featuring a “lightweight combination of nourishing oils and gel dispersed pigment ensures intense moisture and long lasting color”, while Lip Mist leaves a “sheer illuminating finish with a subtle hint of color” and Lip Glow (Burberry’s gloss) “adds a hint of color for fresh moisturized lips and enhanced natural radiance.”

How To Use It:

It’s suggested that you apply Lip Mist straight out of the tube and Lip Cover either the same way, or using your finger and dabbing on for a more subtle look. Lip Glow comes with a doefoot applicator. You can also mix and match products to customize your lip look.

CC Rating: A+

Burberry cosmetics are some of the best on the market and their lip offerings are no different! Lip Cover and Mist are two of my favorite lipsticks and I can literally wear them all day without any drying or discomfort. I find Lip Cover wears for about 5-6 hours with a lip liner and Lip Mist for 2-3, which makes sense since it’s very glossy and sheer. Lip Glow is about 1-2 hours, but I’d expect that from a gloss. Plus, it makes your lips look like they’re lit from within – glowing!

The Oxblood shade is spot on for Winter and I imagine you could wear the Lip Mist and Glow through Spring and Summer. While the Lip Cover version is a deep maroon, the Lip Mist is much lighter and the Lip Glow lighter still, almost a fluorescent purple. Burberry is one of the few brands that does shades across ranges AND names them the same so you can easily find them. I’ve seen other brands do matching lipsticks and glosses, but they give them two totally different names and you may never match them up. Naming just the shade keeps it simple and, if I’m being honest, it makes me feel very grown up to say I’m wearing Oxblood instead of “Pink Ponytail” or something silly like that!

I highly recommend that you check out the Burberry lip collections and Oxblood in particular! Burberry Lip Cover, Lip Mist, and Lip Glow are available for their website for $30 and $27 USD/$36 and $35 CAD.

I love my little hometown and all that goes with living in the Great White North - snow, skiing, hot chocolate, bulky knit sweaters. I'm passionate about a lot of things, but you'll most often find me writing about books, makeup and fashion. As I like to put it, I've got beauty AND brains.
