Madonna Instagrammed a picture of herself with armpit hair tagged “Long hair…… Don’t Care!!!!!! #artforfreedom #rebelheart #revolutionoflove,” and the internet was “grossed out” by it. Shaving your armpit hair is entirely cultural and it’s really not that big of a deal. It’s always shocking to me when people have such a strong reaction to something so dumb. Basically anything that a woman gets shit for but when a man does it he doesn’t get shit for is sexist, so like, let’s all take a chill pill.
As Jezebel points out Express said, “She’s known for being controversial when it comes to her style, but Madonna may have taken it a step too far with her latest look.” Yes, of all the controversial things Madonna has done this is really the most radical. Her provocative book called “SEX” that featured her wholly nude and graphically boning dudes and chicks does not pale in comparison. All those crosses she has burned do not pale in comparison. Her championing and borrowing from gay culture during the AIDS crisis and “gay panic” does not pale in comparison. Nothing she has ever done could hold a candle to how CRAZY this armpit hair photo is.
