Ah, vacation. A time for shorts and mid-day margaritas and stress free zones. You’ve probably started packing for your next vacation even though it’s like four months away (Wait, am I the only one who does that?) but have you figured out your beauty game for said trip? If not, let me be your star guide.
The best thing about being on vacation is that you don’t run much risk of running into anyone you know. I say if there’s ever a time to rock your natural beauty, this is it. At the same time, I also think of vacay as the best time to try a beauty trend you’ve been eyeing but are too chicken to try out normally. So what does the ideal vacation look like? Whatever you want it to, because when you’re on vacation you play by YOUR RULES. If you’re open to suggestions….
Let your hair do its thang. Unless you want to lug your blow dryer, curling iron, straightener, hot rollers and products to wherever you’re going. Or spend an hour every day pulling your hair into submission (ain’t nobody got time for that.) Whether you’re super self-conscious about your wild curls, your baby-fine strands, your frizzy hairline, you may be surprised to find that whatever your biggest hair complaint is just doesn’t matter that much when you’re too bust admiring a beautiful place (or blacking out.)
Try something new. Are you a bold-eyes-and-neutral-lips girl? Switch it up by ditching your mascara and picking up a tube of hot pink lippie. Have you never rocked a cat eye before? Why not try it now? Just take plenty of pictures so you can evaluate the look once you get home. It just may become a go-t0 aspect of your makeup routine.
Go waterproof. If you’re going to spending time in the water at all (and I sincerely hope you are. Love, Zara Husaini from The Windy City) then you need to go to great lengths to ensure you don’t end up with black ish running down your face. Waterproof it out.
Up your SPF. You probably won’t be trapped behind a desk staring at your computer while you’re on vacation – prep your skin for the change. Even if you’re going somewhere coolish, make sure you’re giving your skin more protection than usual.
Let the overall look of wherever you’re going influence you a bit. Going to LA? Swipe on some bronzer. Spending time in Paris? Rock that clean red lip. Don’t think of it as changing yourself or trying to fit in, view it as a chance to take whatever most appeals to you and incorporate it. When in Rome and all.
