The Most Important Pro-Tips for High School Seniors Heading to College

Welcome, high school seniors! Over the coming weeks, you’ll be asked to make one of the biggest decisions of your life — where will you be attending college this fall? For some of you the choice is easy; you’ve known where you want to go since you were young. Maybe it’s a state school you grew up cheering for, maybe it’s where one of your parents or siblings went to. Other rising freshmen are venturing into unknown territory and the choice of where to attend seems impossible. At 18, how are you supposed to know where you want to spend the next four years of your life — four years that could potentially impact the rest of your life?

The good news is that, unless you’re a varsity athlete or someone looking to pursue an extremely specific field of study, college is college. I would venture to say that a solid 70% of college experiences are interchangeable. Provided you earn strong grades and are proactive within your collegiate community, come job time it won’t matter if you went to State University A or Private College B.

But I’m getting ahead of myself, aren’t I? You haven’t even stepped foot on campus yet and I’m already talking about graduation. Before you walk across the stage to accept your diploma, you’ve first got to survive four years living, studying and socializing in college. As with anything, there are tips and tricks that will make the transition from high school to university life as seamless as possible, plus advice for how to thrive once you’ve assimilated.
