Trend Report: The Color of The 2014 Spring Season Is…

pastel fashion

Well, I know what color I’ll be wearing this season (Hint: It’s the same color I wear every season. Second hint: I starts with a ‘B’ and rhymes with ‘crack’), but the sartorial powers that be have spoken. The color of Spring 2014 is…pastel.

Yup, pastel. As in not an actual color. As in, a group of colors. Does this mean the color of Fall ’14 will be ‘jewel tone?’ Will this summer’s color be ‘neon?’

But regardless of how vague and undefined the description of this season’s hautest ‘color’ is, the general grouping of shades is a whole lot easier to work with than, say, “mint green” – which happens to be what I would have named had I ever been asked for my thoughts on what the color of the season is. As someone who rarely wears pastels, I’m not going to recommend you go out and buy some peach jeans, a pale pink trench, baby blue pumps and a soft yellow purse – but hey, why not splurge on one or two pastel-colored items in the name of trendiness?

It can be somethingĀ as simple as a pastel nail polish or a pair of earrings in a soft shade. CheckĀ out some of my suggestions below for easy ways to incorporate pastels in to your life (without looking like an Easter egg.)
