CollegeCandy was invited to Glamour’s “How to Get Your Dream Job in 2014: Secrets of Success from Women Who Know” panel on Thursday. The amazing event also honored the magazine’s Top 10 College Women – dynamic students who’ve created change in and outside of the classroom. The event came right on time for me. I graduated in December and am still actively job hunting/soul searching/”what is the meaning of life”-ing all over the place. The panel, led by Glamour’s Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive, was a regal roundup of women who exemplify what starting from the bottom really is – but despite their hardships and rejections, they’ve made it (sorry for the double Drake references!). Orange is the New Black’s Danielle Brooks, How I Met Your Dad’s Greta Gerwig, chef Gina Keatley, MAKERS founder and executive producer Dyllan McGee and 30 Rock writer Colleen McGuinness represent a spectrum of fields, but they all have commonalities – they possess unconquerable souls and a willingness to do tireless work until results are achieved.
The semester’s coming to a close for many of you all. Whether you’re facing a litany of last-minute assignments and deadlines, still sending in those internship applications or job hunting like me, stay encouraged.
“Push forward, but don’t lose where you are,” Greta Gerwig advised.
