There's a Candle That Has a Diamond Ring In It and It's EVERYTHING

As the self-proclaimed Queen of Candles, I know a thing or two about making a room smell delightful and look positively incandescent. From out of this world, crazy expensive designer candles, to my favorite 2 for $22 bargains, I’ve pretty much tried them all at some point. Until recently, I thought I knew everything there was to know about cool candles on the market, but one little email in my inbox showed me how horribly mistaken I was.
Ladies, meet Diamond Candles, the only company that buries a legit diamond ring in each of their candles. When I opened the email they sent me, I had to pinch myself because hello– money might not grow on trees, but you can now dig a diamond out of a candle. Welcome to nirvana.

When we received our candle to the CollegeCandy offices, it took all my willpower not to dig right in (literally) and find the enclosed ring. I behaved, however, and let the candle melt down naturally until I saw a little gold foil packet start to poke out from the wax puddle. Not gonna lie, at that point I used a paperclip to “help” the reveal process along. I was relieved to find that the ring was well protected from it’s environment. The foil packet revealed a plastic baggy that then contained the ring. It took some deft finger work, but I wrangled the thing out and had an “oooh”/”ahhh” minute. The Diamond Candle site says that the rings value anywhere from $10 to $5,000, and while I don’t think I scored the holy grail ring, the one in my candle was definitely of a good quality.

As far as the candle itself goes, the sample sent to me was “Hawaiian Coconut”, which had a distinctly tropical feel about it. If you’re looking to transform your room into a beachside cabana, then this is the scent for you. If you prefer something more everyday and subtle, I would suggest the “Apple Slice” or “Sunwashed” fragrances. It was long burning (mine still isn’t finished and I’ve been burning it regularly for a few days now) and emits a lot of fragrance.
I’ve got a bunch of birthdays and engagement parties coming up this summer, and I’ve already been brainstorming little gift ideas that incorporate the candles. I love the fact that you’re giving someone a great present that has a little bit of a mysterious element to it. And who knows — maybe someone I know will get that $5,000 diamond!
Diamond Candles are available on the company’s site for $25.
