I haven’t heard the term “smokey eye” in quite some time. It’s not a completely outdated beauty look (like, say, blue eyeshadow) but it’s definitely not the most current thing out there.
Smokey eyes were huge a decade ago when the bombshell look reigned superior over all others. Nowadays though, people seem to be embracing a more neutral, natural look.
But don’t fret, shadow lovers. That doesn’t mean you can’t wear a ton of eye makeup. If you want to look a little bit more ‘right now,’ just snag a couple of shadows in gold/bronze/taupe.
Tons of shimmer is totally okay here – in fact, I’d recommend it. Shimmery shadow draws light to that area, making your eyes look bigger and brighter than ever. It’s also much easier to apply a subtle shade, so feel free to do what works for you. Whether that means smearing one shade all over your lid or blending four colors to achieve a more perfect look you really can’t of wrong.
