Paris Gray, a high school senior in Georgia who happens to be vice president of her graduating class, may not be able to graduate because she made a sassy science joke in her yearbook. Perhaps someone on the yearbook committee should have noticed this? They should have noticed that she misspelled “sulfer,” “utranium” and, “phospheros.”
The quote says, “When the going gets tough just remember to Barium, Carbon, Potassium, Thorium, Astatine, Arsenic, Sulfur, Uranium, Phosphorus,” which of course translates to “back that ass up,” on the Periodic Table.
Paris tried to put a positive spin on it. “Basically, it was me just saying start all over again. You have to go back and start all over,” Gray told WSB. Mhmm. Yeah, girl. Cover your tracks. Her mom seems to get it though, saying,“My first reaction was, you are such a nerd.”
It’s a silly reason to not get to walk during graduation and the person who approved the quote, if it was such a problem, should have said something before it was printed. What do you think?
