What It Is:
Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Primer in 5 Blue*
Why This Should Be in Your Bag:
Primers are a necessity in my makeup routine. On long days in class or on placement, I often don’t want to wear a heavy foundation so I’ve come up with an alternative: concealer + primer + powder. This combo improves my complexion without a heavy layer of foundation that may make my oily skin look more greasy as time passes or just feel icky!
MUFE HD Microperfecting Primer in 5 Blue has been on my list for a while. I love the original, but really wanted to try this correcting shade that receives amazing reviews! MUFE describes this primer as a “lightweight, oil-free complexion corrector that enhances the skin’s texture and primes the skin for makeup application” and the shade 5 Blue “adds radiance to fair skin [and] reduces minor imperfections.” Sounds ideal for me!
How To Use It:
I pump out a pea-sized amount and then spread all over my face with clean fingers. I let it sit for a few minutes and then apply my contour, blush, followed by the all-over powder and then highlight. Ta-da, you’re set for the day in a matter of minutes!
PS – don’t worry about the shade being called Blue. It pumps out more of a cool-toned off-white!
CC Rating: A
The reviews online aren’t lying; this stuff instantly brightens and lifts the complexion. I’m not kidding; the first time I applied it, I was stunned and spent a few minutes analyzing my illuminated skin. This is my new holy grail primer and I am SO thankful that Make Up For Ever decided to make one specifically for enhancing fair skin! Unfortunately, this effect doesn’t really photograph, so no side-by-side proof in this review.
I’ve found that this primer (both shades 0 and 5) increases weartime of any base product applied on top by a few hours and helps things from “melting” down my face. This primer doesn’t refine my pores as much as some others, so if that’s a concern you may want to supplement with another primer on areas with large pores and use this strictly for illumination purposes.
If you’re a fair-skinned lady, you need this. It’s an instant face brightener and garners compliments like “you’re glowing!” and “you look so refreshed!” The Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Primer in 5 Blue is available from Sephora for $34 USD/$39 CAD.
