The 7 Worst Things About Being An Intern

I am pro-internships. I think every college student or young person could use a taste of the real world. How do you know if you even like the job you’re pursuing if you’ve never even seen what it looks like? Internships are important opportunities to learn if you can handle working in a real environment and they often train you to do so. Office etiquette is much different than classroom etiquette, no one is waiting for you to raise your hand to speak up in an office and no one is going to call on you because you haven’t spoken in a while. I’ve had 7 internships, some of them were great and some of them were big flops. Recently a lawyer contacted me on LinkedIn about an internship lawsuit regarding a company I had interned for. I saw who it was and thought, “Yep, it sucked there.”  Internships are useful when they’re good but that doesn’t mean there are no downsides.
