We’re Here for the Right Reasons: Bachelorette Recap, Season 10, Episode 5

Sorry for the delay on this post, y’all! I spent Monday night celebrating America and spending a little less time on Andi (sorry, Andi!).
I would offer that Marseille, France is a little better location than Connecticut. Finally, we start the travels! And even better… Josh M. finally gets a date! I’ve been waiting for this all season, you guys. I’ve also been waiting my whole life to see Chris Harrison wearing a turtle neck and I was not disappointed. Though this conversation between the he and Andi at the coffee shop was quite possibly the worst thing I’ve seen since Chris Harrison’s interview with Juan Pabs on ATFR. No thank you, please. But I digress.
As I was watching Josh and Andi on the boat, I have to be honest… I was a little bored. But I think I was bored because this is just a regular date. Those are the kinds of questions you actually ask on a date, and yeah, they’re a little boring. Do you play golf? Tennis? Why’d you quit your job? Etc, etc, etc. They didn’t really look at each other the whole time, and Andi swore like a sailor which obviously I love. Are all dates like this? It just felt a little off. I think the problem is she thinks he’s way too hot for her. #hemightbe
Group dates are getting a little ridiculous you guys. Miming? Also, was it necessary for any of these dudes to tell us they’ve never mimed before? No shit, weirdos. Nobody has! This seems like the worst date. I would take a hard pass on this one. Nick V. knows what I’m talkin’ about. What a salty dude he was this week!
Cody, however, continues to impress me! “I got my mime on my money and my money on my mime.” I am loving what Cody is putting down lately. Who knew?! JJ and Marquel also crushed this date. Especially Marquel—seriously I think this could be a future career for him.
I feel like the 4th wall was broken quite a bit this week with the Marquel drama. It may be because I’m just not used to boy drama, but something about watching the boys fight always makes me feel like I’m getting a sneak peak at a secret world. I love it.
I HATE Andrew. But is anyone really surprised that this douche bag is a little racist? No, I’m not. Marquel is a great dude, and I think he expressed himself beautifully. The first thing this guy thought when he saw him is that he was black—period. And he is so much more. I think this was important to talk about, especially given ABC’s history with minorities on this show. #MarquelForBachelor (Ok I’ll settle for Bachelor in Paradise but for the record I think he’s better than that).
Next we get the obligatory movie date. And really Brian? If you could choose any date with Andi it would be a dinner and a movie? You know you got the stupid sponsored movie date they do every year—don’t act like this is lucky. The second half of this date, however, was my JAM. Just market shopping and cooking, now there’s a date! Especially with Brian in that sweater, he was looking right y’all.
But apparently it wasn’t a very great date—though I wouldn’t have known that if Andi hadn’t been talking about it all night. Brian’s a good dude, he’s a shy dude, and Andi knows that. He hates cooking, he’s not good at it, they’re on a cooking date. I get that chemistry is very important, but I feel like she’s not giving this poor guy a chance. Sorry Brian, you’re not gonna win, but I still love ya. Though I have had quite enough of announcing every single kiss, thank you.
I’m not sure how many people would normally have gone home tonight. 1? 2? Is 3 a lot? I couldn’t even tell you. I will say though, I’m loving this move. It must be really hard to get to know the guys that you see a relationship with when you have to keep going out with guys you’re just not that into. Smart move, Andi.
As devastated as I am to see Marquel leave (especially in that scarf) I have to say I’m thrilled Cody made it through another week! Why has this dude grown on me so much I couldn’t even tell you, but he’s always a winner in my eyes!
Patrick’s (who the F is Patrick anyways?) goodbye made me hate him. He said: “I’ve heard from multiple people, not just girls, that I have traits that are paramount for being a husband.” Seriosuly? Stop it, Patrick. Just stop it. This is why you’re single.
On the other hand, Marquel’s goodbye literally brought tears to my eyes. I’ll say it again: #MarquelForBachelor.
Looks like next week is going to bring on all of the feels! And a lie detector test. And possibly an early exit from Josh M. I’m ready!
