We Tried It: The Most Foolproof Liquid Liner

When it comes to eye makeup, there’s nothing quite as dramatic and sophisticated as a good winged cat eye. The look is sultry and sexy but still totally classy. It’s exotic but it looks great on everyone and it instantly defines your whole face. Don’t believe me? See above.
The other great thing about this look is that its inherently quite easy to achieve. All you need to do is follow the curve of your eyelid, then wing your line up slightly. With that being said, winged liner looks so much better when its created with a liquid liner – and that’s where the difficulties start. Liquid liner is, after all, notoriously tough to use without, well, f*cking it up. I’ve never been able to get good results from one; thanks to my shaky hands, I always assumed the cat eye just wasn’t in the cards for me.
Until I discovered this little gem of a liner by Stila. It is seriously almost foolproof – I mean if I can manage it, anyone can. Like, if you can use a sharpie, you can use this liner.

It has a thick firm tip (that’s what she said? #Maturity) that makes it super simple to maneuver. Now, you’re not going to get the super fine, precise line you’d get from a more traditional liquid liner, but I don’t really think that’s a bad thing in this case. In fact, I like the boldness and intensity of the line this product delivers. It also has remarkable staying power – it doesn’t get weirdly faded in random spots like some liners do.
Honestly, this liner is sort of a game-changer. Buy it black for a classic look that’s well worth the $20 – I’m not sure if it would be worth it to buy a colored version but if the idea of a colorful cat eye intrigues you, go for it. It makes the super sexy cat eye incredibly easy to replicate at home and it delivers fabulous results. Two thumbs up from me.
