“Stop acting like a little girl and man up!”
Think of all the times you’ve heard that commonplace saying…and think of how many times it’s usually attached to something insulting. “Like a girl” translates to doing something feebly and half-heartedly…and not as well as a man.
The Cut says that only 19 percent of girls view the phrase “like a girl” with positive association. It’s a shame. It’s no longer a man’s world…taking a cursory glance at the government, the “about” pages of your favorite companies and corporations and the mastheads of your favorite magazines. It’s due time for women to realize it as well. Always’ new ad campaign shows us just that. “#LikeAGirl” asks women to do just that, act like girls…and the results are heartbreaking, eye-opening and ultimately inspiring. Take a look below.
