When I first came up with the title of this post I thought I’d give you a list of items every woman needs. I was going to put red lipstick on the list, then I remembered not everyone wears makeup. I was going to add heels, then I remembered not even I wear heels. Every woman is different and it’s wholly exclusive and unjust to reduce us to a bunch of superficial products that only a few of us use. I got to thinking, what actually makes a woman a grown ass woman? It’s a combination of personal milestones and the mature sensibility to define oneself by her own autonomy. There are all kinds of women, women come in so many different packages, with so many different attitudes and so many different paths but there is a certain je ne sais quoi to a grown ass woman. These are the things, I feel, make up a woman who is exercising her agency as a lady of the modern times.
