The strange thing about pop culture is that it often tends to gloss over the college years. Sure, there’s a high school-centric movie for every occasion…and don’t get me started on the number of high school drama TV shows out there (mad props to the CW). There are workplace dramas galore and space-centric sitcoms and a million romcoms about 20-somethings. But there isn’t a ton of focus on college. Maybe because college is just way too awesome to ever be captured accurately?
When college students do take center stage, though, Greek life is often at the epicenter of all the social drama – and the interesting thing about this, to me at least, is the way sorority girls in pop culture are costumed. I mean, take Greek for example. The ABC Family show’s main character, Casey Cartwright, was the consummate sorority girl.
