5 Chic Ways To Wear A Denim Vest

denim vest

Admittedly, it sort of makes me look like AC Slater from Saved By The Bell but I happen to love my denim best all the same. I bought it on a whim – a slightly oversized, waist-length number with artful distressing and a light wash – but it’s turned out to be a major player in my summer wardrobe for the past few years. There are so many fun ways to wear this item. Give one of these options a go.

Trendy: You have your go-to romper and no matter how much you love it, you’re aware that people are starting to get sort of sick of seeing you in it. Solution: keep on wearing that romper, but give it a new twist by tossing your vest over it. Style as usual – may we suggest some low-heeled nude wedges and a cute cross body bag?

Grungy: toss on an oversized white tee shirt (preferably stolen from your boyfriend’s closet, but that step is optional.)  Wear some comfy ass leggings. Add that denim vest. Throw the whole look together with some combat boots to really play up the grunge vibe, or some cute sneakers to keep it a bit less 90s. Either way, this is like the best hungover-at-a-morning-class look of all time. YOU WOKE UP LIKE DIS.

Grunge-meets-glam: Do you have a tight little LBD that, while reliable and generally flattering, is just sort of boring? Of course you do. We all do. Try topping it off with that denim vest the next time you go to a bar. Add some cute wedges or sandals and boom – you’re still hot, but in a totally effortless way.

Classic: A standard striped dress will take you so far in life. It’s such an easy, all-American item you’ll wear so often. Try styling one underneath a denim vest – add some classic flats for a simple yet stylish look.

Edgy: Top off an all black outfit – think black jeans, black tank and moto boots – with a denim vest for a look that’s edgy in a fun, throwback-y way.
